Taking A Breather This Week

There are so many dogs and cats in need at the shelters. The rescuer from Ohio in the previous post

tells it like it is. This is no game. Animals who are highly adoptable are killed because their time is up. Their time can be an hour, a day, a week, three weeks. In Aloha's and the 3 month old no name puppy it was over too soon. If you can't rescue or adopt, what about taking a dog for a walk, a dog like Aloha or a joyous puppy who only wants to play and who eventually will be killed because there are too may joyous puppies and too few homes. There are dogs whose last days you can fill with love and play and fresh air. This is their life ( no matter how short or how badly people have failed them) and someone needs to care. Dogs and cats who don't make it out of shelters are victims of our society. I mean why can't people spay and neuter. Then 3 month old puppies will not be taking their last breath at an animal shelter in a gas chamber or by the needle. So volunteer at your local shelters. Have your kids volunteer. And if you can afford to, help with a donation and sponsorship.
Please look at the current posts and the archived ones. The dogs in the posts may be adopted, rescued or dead but these pounds and rescues get a steady influx of animals. This won't stop until the shelter system changes and more people realize having a pet is a life long commitment.

I will probably post a couple times this week( maybe not) but will get back to daily posting the week of the 15th.

Go walk a shelter dog!
