2/13/11 Shelter Dogs and Cats on this Blog
I've received several anonymous e-mails updating some of the blog posts from last year. I want to thank the person or persons who sent them. I also want to let readers know that most of these dogs and cats are in kill shelters and or in immediate danger of being euthed. Most of these animals do not have long to live unless they are at shelters like Grayson in Ky or Shelby Cty Animal Shelter in Ky (and others I cannot recall now that do their best to never euth an animal). If you see a dog or cat you are interested in please contact the shelter or pound. Realize though that after a year in many cases the animal will not be there. They have been adopted, rescued or euthed. Pounds and shelters often euth weekly and although it is possible a dog or cat may be there after one or 2 years it is highly unlikely unless they have a foster program or are a non-kill facility. Many shelters and pounds listed on this blog do not have the resources to keep these precious animals indefinitely. It never hurts to call the pound or shelters about a dog or cat seen on this blog.
If you click on a shelter link you are often taken to the shelter's website where you can see the dogs and cats who are there now. Please do that. When you click on the Petfinder link, if it is in the post, you also can see the dogs and cats in need today if the shelter or pound updates their listing. So there are two ways to find who is at the shelter. Also contacting an e-mail link in the post can be a source to find out who is in need.
