Ohio and Kentucky Seniors on Senior Dog Project

The Senior Dogs Project gives older dogs a chance at adoption.

Kentucky -- Dogs Available for Adoption

"Chelsea, a senior Rottie was

found with her best friend, a Jack Russell,

on the streets of Kentucky and

taken to a Kentucky shelter.

Chelsea's family

went to the shelter, but instead

of taking them both home,

they took only the

Jack Russell and left

Chelsea at the

shelter with instructions

to euthanize her

because, they said,

"She's old." The shelter

director does not want to

kill her because she has

so much more love to give

in this world. So he sent out

a plea for someone to take

her home and love her for

her remaining days. If you

have room in your heart

and home

to foster or adopt her please,

call the shelter director,

James, at 502.633.0009.
Transportation provided to almost anywhere."

Louise
Mix/Breed: Labrador Retriever mix
Sex/Age/Weight: Female, approx. 10 years, 55 lb.
Health: No vetting done at the shelter.
History/Personality:
This sweet girl exudes love and affection
. How wonderful it would be if someone could let her live her
remaining years
in a nice, warm, loving home. She loves
to ride in a truck and we bet she would do as well
in the backseat of a car. She has some
wounds on her back legs, is at least 10 years old,
and may have cataracts. Someone loved
this dog for many, many years. Please don't let her
end her last days in this shelter.

The animal control officer who picked her up
said that she was a very good dog;

even now she rarely barks in her cage.
Poor thing is probably so scared and confused.

Seniors don't always geta chance at adoption at this shelter,

and, like the very sweet but senior

Golden mix shown at the left, may be deemed "unadoptable"

and put immediately into the "back room" to await euthanasia.

Be sure to ask to see all the seniors, even if the shelter has

pre-determined that "no one would want such an old dog."

Also look for a senior to adopt at Mahoning County Humane

Society, Phone: 330-533-5451."
