"Why Choose Me?

Shaney is an angel DESPERATELY in need of a savior. She was just surrendered at the end of the day today by her owners who were moving and couldn’t bring their loyal companion and friend with them. It is a shame that such a sweet, senior girl with some special needs could just be dumped at the pound. Shaney probably has impaired vision, and lost her right front leg when she was hit by a car as a puppy. She gets along fine with her remaining legs; it is what she’s used to! It’s easy to tell that in her day she was a beautiful girl. Unfortunately, Shaney is entering a new, strange place without her humans, and faces an uncertain future. She remained sweet and gentle through the whole impounding process, and happily relished in the attention of volunteers and officers. If you have room in your home to save a good girl, please give her a chance to live out the rest of her life in peace and comfort.

Update: While I was taking pictures, some volunteers took Shaney out so she could enjoy the soft grass beneath her feet while basking in the sunshine. She enjoyed every minute. This golden girl deserves so much more than living out her last few days all alone in a concrete run. Don’t you have room in your life where a quiet old lady can retire?

Sigh. Animal control is jam packed. That means this baby will be the first to be euthanized to make room for others. :-( She has very little time. HURRY!

The cost of adopting a dog is $50.00, which includes a DHLPP-C vaccination, deworming of your new friend, an adoption information packet, and a implanted microchip. You, as the adopter, are responsible for the cost of spay or neuter and for returning proof of surgery to Animal Control. Adopters must obtain a rabies vaccination for their dog by the time the dog is 4 months old.

The adoption fee is $50 and includes a puppy's first vaccinations, a dewormer and a microchip (inserted under the dog's skin so that he/she can always be traced back to you if lost). At the time your dog is spayed or neutered, you are reimbursed $25 of the adoption fee, so your final cost for your new friend is only $25. It will be the most rewarding $25 you ever spend!! The process works like this...when you go to the shelter, you pick out the dog you want. Then you have to fill out an application. If approved, you can pick the puppy up the next day (if the dog has been at the shelter for the legal 5 day holding period). However, if the dog is old enough to be spayed or neutered, animal control will schedule your dog with a vet, and you pick him up from there. It's that simple. The awesome animal control officers do most of the work for you! All you have to do is show up at the shelter or vet's office to pick up your new friend! "
