2/16/10 Why Are Dogs and Cats Who Are Owner Surrendered Often At Top of Shelter Euth Lists? Mahoning Dog Pound -OH Surrendered Pets Who Are URGENT

I ask again Why Are Dogs and Cats Who Are Owner Surrendered Often At Top of Shelter Euth Lists?
It makes no sense to me. Could it be the shelters think well this dog had a chance at a home and so did this cat? And if they think this what about the fact the owner surrendered animal did nothing wrong. It is a sad fact that dogs and cats are killed at shelters. To make it worse at many shelters the owner surrender policy is out of control. The owner surrender policy has to change when it comes to the time these dogs and cats are available. Animals' lives are taken because the owners often are .....You fill in the blank. I am sure it won't be pretty if like me you see the "craziness" of killing a dog or cat because the owner didn't want him or her anymore. And I know about the overcrowded shelters ( animals cannot be held indefinitely), and shelters with few resources. However these problems point out how there needs to be shelter reform ASAP. Here are some owner surrenders in OH
