12/27/16 Can You Spare One Dollar to Save the Life of A Dog on Deathrow ? Please Support dogsindanger.com

So many wonderful dogs are killed each day. It is a sad fact. Please help organizations that save lives.
A donation of even one dollar can help. Remember the saying it takes a village to raise a child. Well It takes a group of compassionate people to donate even one dollar and that adds up to many dollars and that will give a dog who is scheduled to die a chance at a happy life. There is no way to turn away from the fact many wonderful animals are not given a chance to live out their lives. You can make a difference and help change this.

"When we domesticated animals - for our own benefit - we took away their ability to fend for themselves and thus took on the responsibility to care for them. When you consider the number of companion animals who are abused, neglected or euthanized each year and the way we treat farm animals, you can only conclude that we are failing to live up to our obligation." - P. K. Barkur

What is needed is a change in our individual consciousness about how we treat animals, ourselves and each other. The world seems to be in ruins these days, so much unresolved conflicts. The way we treat animals and have for decades is a symptom that we as a society, civilization and world are not living  up to our potential as human beings who can live in harmony with each other and all the animals who inhabit the planet. If we don't stop all these "lower emotions" from directing our individual behaviours, is there any hope for the world and its conflicts?

More and more people are awakening to their true humanity which does not thrive on abandonment of animals, does not thrive on hurting self or others. Don't be part of the problem . Be part of the solution.
Do an act of kindness today even if you don't feel it.

There are angels on earth who know this truth and work tirelessly to help anyone in need. Support their efforts, please. They have the stamina to do this work like going out at 2 a.m. in bitterly cold weather to give homeless cats the only food they get for the day. They have the inner strength to go to Syria and  provide aid to people caught in the civil war even if it costs them their lives.

Enough is enough, don't you think? Each person by holding this concern for our planet and each other and doing whatever small of kindness you can adds to the  betterment of our world.

Subject: WINTER WISH LIST FOR SOME OF WESTERN OKLAHOMAS THROWAWAY BABIES...
It is getting colder..... So once again, we have been getting the pound and other holding areas ready for winter...
One of the best things I feel we have done was for the pound in a town 13 miles south of me.... The dogs there laid in kennels that had a back, roof and side, but with no dog houses, they were out in the cold, rain, wind, and worse, ice and snow...
They are small kennels.... When you open to clean or feed, the dogs were often getting out and running... one little yorkie was hit by a car...
We had fence donated and we made an area in front of the kennels that not only makes it safer for these fur babies, but they now have an area to play and exercise...
We put houses with blankets I.. the long timers were so happy... one sweet girl wouldn't even come out, she loved it so much...
We still have other holding areas we need to get ready... We need 8X10 heavy tarps.... strong zip ties.... water buckets and food bowls....  2 large dog houses....BLANKETS, BLANKETS AND MORE BLANKETS....
We have a generator set up for one of the holding places.... We have been
able to get kennels and a building at two other locations... (remember, we
help 5 surrounding pounds)

We know this is a lot to ask, but we have to try... even if you would like
to do a few bucks for this.... all would add up...

we want TWO more generators.... I have found around here (100 miles away)
the cheapest ones have been at a store called Harbor Freight... Because
they will be running electric heaters, we need them to be higher
voltage....

If this is something you are considering helping with, you could even send
a small gift card towards it and we would save until we raise and make
enough...

So, there is our winter wish list... The cold is here... we need to get
these babies warm and safe...

Thank you,

Terry Lynn

I don't mean to upset anyone but then again maybe we all need to get more upset, to hold leaders more accountable. Not all were animals killed in Aleppo but  hospitals were bombed, children died. The  city is in rubble. When will man learn this never solves a thing. The problem is human consciousness,
Please do all the good you can where you live. Let the better side of human nature flourish.

10/26/16 "Where will they go or get fed when it snows? The black and white and orange and white could possibly come in and live as house pets but will be frightened at first and need time to adjust but most shelters don't want that kind of cat and I don't have the space for them. These guys I believe might have been someone's pet a long time ago. The tabby is definitely a feral but is getting used to me and doesn't run off anymore. We need more people or shelters willing to take these cats and give them the time they need to adjust or they will stay out on the streets living the lousy lives they live. Winter is here and soon the snow will be too." Forgotten Felines of Boston. Please Help the Cats.

While we are safe and warm in our homes in the winter these cats come out in the middle of the night to be fed by compassionate people. Some are house pets abandoned by heartless owners. Others are  offspring of the abandoned cats.  Please contact Bostons Forgotten Felines if you can provide help for one of these cats whether  a feral or just  a frightened and abandoned cat. They need to be fed daily and have shelter from the cold and snow in order to survive. They are victims of man's inhumanity.   Those of us who value compassion for all beings whether two or four footed need to step up and  transform this world of ours into a place of peace and harmony or as close to that as we can get as human beings.

The phrase high kill is horrific. But it is real. We as a society MUST CHANGE if we are to survive. Let this change start with one act of loving kindness daily. How about going to a high kill shelter and saving a life, allowing a dog or cat to feel the joys of a loving safe home where people know what caring is. Animals have a lot to teach us.

"In August 2016, Ascension Parish and surrounding areas experienced record breaking floods.  As a result, CARA's House shelter was flooded and displaced to a temporary holding facility.  Currently CARA's house is functioning in a makeshift shelter and the actual facility will need great repairs and improvements to be a functioning facility again.  CARA's house is a 501c3, functioning with some parish funds set aside prior to the flood, however funds are not nearly enough to repair the facility and accommodate the large influx of animals we have taken in.

Right now CARA's house is caring for 180+ stray animals brought in as a result of the flood.  Animals have continued to be surrendered daily.  Many will likely not be reclaimed due to owners not looking for them, unable to find them, or just physically unable to take them back due to homelessness.  All these animals will need vetting, which is another unexpected expense.  We expect to not only be dealing with initial vetting, but heartworm positive dogs and a multitude of other medical issues.

CARA's house also must eventually take back some our own animals we had housed prior to the flood.  This number is a little over 200 animals that were in our care.  Even when our facility restored and able to accept animals, it is not nearly large enough to house all these animals.

We have decided that this amount is just a start until we can fully evaluate the damage, decide what needs to be done with the current structure and facility, and the best plan for restoring out facility.  We do expect the need to be greater than this initial amount.  Any help is greatly needed!

About layla: LAYLA is a beautiful shepherd mix that was surrendered to the shelter almost two months ago when her owner decided he could no longer properly care for her. She has spent her entire life outside and the last year of that has sadly been spent outside on a chain. We are hoping to turn things around for Layla and find her a loving, indoor home, but unfortunately she hasn't had any interest whatsoever in her months here at the shelter. When she first arrived, she was quite timid and shy, but she has since settled in and is really starting to let her personality shine. In her kennel, she can be a little over the top and rambunctious so we weren't quite sure how her photo shoot would go. Well, turns out Layla is exactly why people say don't judge a book by its cover; she instantly won our hearts over and made us feel completely guilty for not getting her out sooner."

Update Manny RIP- See His Pictures and Don't Forget What Happens To Dogs and Cats at Kill Shelters-7/14/16 " Owensboro KY~LAST CALL~Miracle needed TONIGHT~dies AM 7-14! Dear MAN Wed Jul 13, 2016 8:11 pm (PDT) . Posted by: "Margaret Reno" mreno832 ' Was He Euthanized? CAll ASAP to See if This Dog is Alive."MANNY'S VERY LAST CALL--Manny has been at Daviess County Animal Control in Owensboro KY for MONTHS and plea after plea has been sent out on his behalf"

It appears from FB that Manny was killed by the people who loved him. I know this is not a politically correct response. The shelter kept him for many months. He  became healthy and happy according to posts but not able to be with other dogs. I am sorry. I still feel this was not the right thing to do because of space and there are more dogs  like Manny at municipal shelters who don't even  get a week let alone a couple months. What kind of society are we that does not allow animals  the time they need to be  adopted or rescued because of space and money? It is  not okay to take a precious healthy happy life.   I  cannot imagine how the person who killed him can even sleep at night and I use the word killed because it was a socially acceptable murder due to money and space that lawmakers  determine. The shelter decides who lives and dies due to space, money and allowing people to dump animals without   holding them responsible for what they didn't do to care for their animal. That is a heinous reason to take the life of a healthy  animal.
Municipal shelters reflect how we let people dump animals for no good reason and who pays for this, dogs like Manny. We need to be outraged at  this system and work with organizations trying to change how people treat animals and how city shelters treat them. I am so hoping Manny was not killed but that I think is a dream. I wonder if his tail was wagging so happy to have attention.  Each time a life is taken  like this at a shelter we as a society are contributing to all the ills that ail us, those that afflict animals as well as people.

Sweet Manny came into the shelter almost FOUR months ago completely covered in scars and beaten down by life. We are not sure exactly what he has been through, but he has since healed remarkably and is more than ready to find his forever home. It is really hard to believe, but Manny has transformed into the MOST beautiful dog in the entire shelter. His sleek, blue coat, gorgeous green eyes, and solid, muscular build are absolutely stunning! Due to what this sweet boy experienced, he is not fond of other dogs and needs to be the ONLY dog in the home. He will need a responsible owner (with preferably a fenced-in yard) to provide him with plenty of exercise and daily stimulation. He weighs roughly 60 pounds, is approximately 2 years old, and loves to play

HE IS GORGEOUS!!

Manny giving kisses after he got his energy out!  This guy is so sweet!https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10207567742365533&set=p.10207567742365533&type=3&theater

Despite everything this sweet guy has been through, Manny still has such a beautiful, happy spirit about him and very much loves being around people. His whole face lights up when he sees someone coming, and his tail wags nonstop. All he wants to do is get out, have some fun, and enjoy everything life has to offer.
Manny loves treats and does THE cutest little prance on his front feet when he is sitting and patiently waiting for them. He just gets so excited that he can hardly sit still! Since he has been cooped up in a kennel for a couple of months, he will likely need some training and guidance to help him get settled in and used to functioning in a family unit, but he has tons of potential if someone would just be willing to make the commitment and work with him. Manny weighed 50 pounds upon intake (but probably weighs about 65 now) and is neutered.

IF YOU CAN HELP SWEET MANNY, PLEASE EMAIL THE SHELTER TONIGHT!!!

We have a 2-3 year old Beagle in need of rescue. He's a male and is a
little shy but is sweet. He was found stray and had been seen running
around lost for a few weeks. He gets along with other dogs and ignores
cats. If anyone is interested in this small sweet guy please let me know.

"The Story

Willy's Kitty Angels was founded in 2008 in response to the stray and feral cat populations in Webster and Dudley.   In March of 2009, Willy's received non-profit status from the IRS.  Between 2004 and 2010 Willy's trapped, neutered, and returned 350 feral/stray cats in their service area.  In 2010 we became a PetSmart Charity Adoption Partner, and moved our home base to Northbridge.  In November of 2010, our adoptable cats and kittens moved into the adoption center at the Millbury PetSmart.  Since then, we have found homes for over 1000 cats and kittens!  Out of those cats and kittens adopted, no more than 10 have come back to us for being a bad match to their forever humans.  We believe the foster home network philosophy works, unfortunately the fact we do not have a building limits our ability to apply for funding and grant monies.. A couple of years ago, I met a young woman online. She does dog rescue in rural southwestern West Virginia. Her name is Jessica Hill White and she runs A Reason To Believe Animal Rescue. This is a very small rescue with only a few foster homes. It is such a rural, poor area that she has a difficult time finding people who can safely and responsibly foster dogs. The one adoption she did in the local area in the past year turned into an owner surrender a few months later, so Jessica strongly prefers to send her dogs north to screened/approved rescues where they can find indoor forever homes.

On June 5, Jessica suddenly and unexpectedly lost her mother. Her mother was not sick and she died within minutes of arriving in the emergency room. Jessica is only 27 years old. To say this life-changing event has devastated her is an understatement.

The week prior to her mother's death, Jessica was called to a site where 30+ dogs have been dumped over the years. The owner of the property feeds them but obviously can't provide a good quality of life for so many dogs. He is working with her to catch and rehome these dogs and will alter the ones that can't be caught so the population stops growing.

This morning, Jessica posted this on Facebook:

I ask that people please stop contacting me about animals at this time. I lost my mom June 5th, please have some respect. When your msg starts out with " I know this isn't a good time but"---- just stop- you're exactly right- it's not a good time. When is it a good time? I have literally 40 waiting so your animal will go at the end of that stack & by that time surely you can have managed to help it yourself. I'm exhausted, a kind of exhausted that sleep doesn't help & I'm at wits end.

Yes, literally within a few days of her mother's death, the requests to surrender dogs started up again.

I'm asking you, if you are a rescue in the northeastern US, to consider pulling a dog or two from her. If you are not, please share this post to rescues in northeastern states. Jessica has free, regular, reliable transport available to northeastern states. She does her best to fundraise so she does not have to charge the rescues anything for the dogs she sends. She just wants them to go to loving, forever homes. She treats for whatever illnesses or injuries the dog has prior to transferring it to another rescue. She does 4DX testing and worms with Panacur and vaccinates on intake. All dogs are altered prior to leaving unless it is medically unsafe to do so and the receiving rescue wants to take on the medical case. About 95% of the time, she handles all of the medical care before sending the dog to another rescue.

Jessica is a nurse at her day job and has an excellent relationship with her local veterinarian. She takes on the medical cases that the other local rescues walk away from. She is not someone living in a poor rural area with no education who's sending out sick dogs to rescues unaware. She really, truly does her best to ensure you're getting an accurate health and temperament assessment. If any placement with another rescue does not work out, she will always take her dogs back. If you are a rescue in a state north or east of WV, please consider helping her.

A Reason To Believe Animal Rescue (Dogs with * are the highest priority at this time!)

ARTBAR Rescue Application - Rescues who can take a dog, please fill this out if you haven't pulled from her in the past.

Please do not alter this message. Just share it as is.

Thanks for anything you can do.

New Website For Boston's Forgotten Felines.  Seeing the cats run out to the food in the dark makes me think each person who dumped their cats needs to be charged with animal cruelty. We know this won't happen. Irresponsible cat owners continue to flood the street with their actions.  The  cats suffer, the babies born outside become feral. Why is it that those who act in this way are free to live their lives and continue to create chaos in society and create so much heartache and misery for the cats? I don't have an answer except that  perhaps we as a society allow these behaviours, encourage them by making personal responsibility a thing of the past.

"Hi, Friends:

Once a year I ask for your support. Usually it is for the Walk for Animals,
but this year we're rolling out a new event, the Fast & Furriest. I'm so
excited to see it come to fruition and think that it will be a tremendous
success (and tons of fun)! I'm writing today to ask for your support
as I raise money for a cause that I care deeply about.

This year I'm participating in honor of Frank, a cat that defied
the odds and survived life as a stray - for months - after
being hit by a car. Eventually he landed at Nevins Farm
and I'm so proud to say that we didn't give up on him. To us,
he wasn't just a stray cat - or just a very broken cat - he was
a cat that we could help have a better life (though it took 4
surgeries and lots of TLC) and that's just what we did.
It's what we do for a lot of cats like Frank, day in and day out.

We've got a big, big goal for this event and I need your help
so that we can reach it. Any donation of any size is a true gift
to us and to the animals that we care for - and one that
I'll be incredibly grateful for. Please consider supporting my
efforts today - or joining us for the event!

Best,

Julia

"America’s cherished wild horses are under grave threat of sterilization and slaughter, thanks to the President’s proposed 2017 Budget, which asks Congress to give the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) authority to:

  • Sterilize wild free-roaming horses on the range through barbaric surgical methods to remove the ovaries of female horses (mares) and by castrating stallions. These life-threatening actions will destroy the very essence of what makes these animals wild and threaten their future existence in the West.
