1/31/11 Outdoor Winter Cat Shelter Can Save the Lives of Your Outdoor Cats and Homeless Ferals

"This is an affordable, outdoor shelter that will, literally, save the lives of any outdoor cats, or ferals that must be exposed to freezing temperatures on a daily basis. You can buy this tote, or similair totes at Wal Mart, Target, and most other major retailers for under $20.00, cut an opening that a cat can fit it, and line with fresh straw. Reattach the lid, and you're finished!" D. Conner

" Long Distance Adoptions
If you do not live close to our shelter but would like to adopt a dog or cat from us, please e-mail mcasrescue@gmail.com  and we will try to put you in contact with a rescue near you. We deal with quite a few rescues in the northeast. Please put "Adoption inquiry from (your city/state)" in the subject line. You can apply to adopt through the rescue, and they will handle your application and screening process. The rescue can then make all of the arrangements with the shelter for you."

"UPDATE:
ALL!!! I just heard that these 2 will go to Animal Control tomorrow! PLEASE, I am BEGGING you, HELP!!! Liberty County Animal Control is a nasty, disgusting place and nobody is rescuing kitties out of there at the moment; therefore, these 2 WILL be killed if we cannot get them out.

Hinesville, GA - Two cats were abandoned inside home after Renters moved... They need rescue ASAP or they will end up at Animal Control in Liberty County and since there is nobody there to rescue cats at the moment, it will mean death for them. Below is the e-mail I received from a nice lady who was asked for help by the senior gentleman who owns the property. Again, he does not want them to be destroyed, he wants them to be safe, which is why he is asking for help.

Good afternoon Petra,

I just got back from visiting the abandoned kitty's. Here is a description of them:

Kitty #1 is a male and solid black. He is simply GORGEOUS! He was a bit shy when we were there but it was also the first time he ever met us. He warmed up after we gave him some treats and he saw us petting his house mate.

Kitty #2 is a female and is black and white with long whiskers. She has the funniest little "Chirp" for a meow and is a big love bug. As we were trying to pet her buddy, she would come and head but our hand to get us to pay more attention to her. She also likes to make biscuits while you hold her with her paws on your shoulder.

If I had to guess, I believe these 2 are not any older than 12-18 months old. They appear to be siblings because their coats are the same (very thick, soft and non-shedding). They also have similar body frames (smaller framed cats).

They have been very good at using the litter boxes. I changed the box when I visited and it was FULL.

I pray you have some luck on your Facebook page for these darling little babies! If you can mention that it may be best if they were rescued together (they seem to be very attached to each other) but at this point, I'm sure they would be grateful for separate homes as long as they had a second chance at life."

Mandy (A12138858) was picked up as a stray - she's not only gorgeous, she has an adorably sweet and gentle personality! This young girl (@1-2 YO) was looking for scratches during her photo shoot and reaching through her cage for more when we were done. Can you give this cutie pie a forever home?

" This is Rudy. He is a 2 year old Great Dane/mix. He weighs close to 100lbs. Rudy is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, flea/tick medication and heartworm prevention. Rudy was originally thought to be a "lab mix" when he was a young puppy, but his legs began to grow and grow showing the Great Dane in him. He looks like a small sized pure Great Dane. Rudy loves running around outside, chasing Frisbees, and going for walks. He is a very social boy and wants to be where his people are. He is crate trained and house trained. Rudy will require a fenced in yard for adoption (please, no exceptions) and is an inside dog. Large or extra large dog experience is a plus and a home visit is a must! Rudy will do best with older children over the age of 12 years." from site

Adoption Fee: $50
Reclaim and adoption fees are the same as for dogs. All adopted cats will receive certain health screenings, vaccinations, a microchip for identification, and be spayed or neutered in compliance with the Georgia Sterilization Act.
The cat shelter is accepting donations of cat food (wet or dry), cat litter (non-clumping only), towels, blankets, toys, and quality crates.  If you have anything else you’d like to donate, please give them a call and see if it’s something they need.
We will update the cats when possible, but it may not be as frequently as the dogs since our volunteers may not always have time to make it to the cat shelter.  If you’ve lost a kitty or are looking for one to adopt, please stop by the cat shelter or give them a call since all impounded cats may not be pictured.

31521 RIP BEAUTIFUL BOY. THE SHELTER DID NOT GIVE YOU ENOUGH TIME . KILL SHELTER MUST CHANGE. How anyone could look in your face full of life and kill you is beyond me. SHELTERS MUST STOP RATIONALIZING THESE KILLINGS. THERE IS NO HUMANE EUTHANASIA FOR CATS LIKE PAN.  OR FOR ANY BUT SICK OR VICIOUS ANIMALS. NO SPACE FOR A TINY CAT LIKE PAN. THESE SHELTERS CANNOT EVEN SEE WHAT CRUELTY THEY PERPETUATE BY DEALING WIT HOMELESS PETS IN THIS DISPOSABLE WAY.  ALL THE HATS AND BANDANAS ETC. IN THE PICTURES DO NOT HIDE THE FACT THAT THESE ANIMALS WILL BE KILLED IF NOT RESCUED OR ADOPTED ASAP. AND KILLING OWNER SURRENDERS FIRST IS CRAZINESS.   DOES THIS SHELTER   TRY TO HELP OWNERS KEEP THEIR PETS? WHAT DO THEY DO?  I am sorry if this offends anyone. Cats like Pan are being killed and this is truly offensive. There are shelters reducing their euth rates and finding ways to extend the time up limit.

Why choose Pan?
Pan is going to grow up and be absolutely stunning.  Right now he needs a little bit of grooming, but is still very handsome.  He is a tiny bit timid here, but with a little love he’ll be a confident cat.  He liked the attention, and was the only cat today to pose for his pictures!  Come meet Pan today!

*This is female husky that had been shot over a year ago and the owners
never took her to a vet. Now she has a dead limb that she has to carry
around. It will need to be amputated. We all know it is hard to find persons
willing to put the extra money into a dog from a shelter and in a short
period of time, also our shelter does not have the money to get the leg
fixed. She is 2.5 yrs. old, a little shy, but once she gets to know you, all
she wants is love. Can anyone please help this girl?"
