March 2, 2009 Dogs Rescued From S.C. Shelter Where There is No Hope

"update from HOLLY. about the mom and babies ..please help
Wed Feb 18, 2009 12:03 pm
We lost 4 puppies and the mom is in very bad shape. Her kidney's have started to shut down and she is very sick. She is still at the vets office where they are trying to save her life. The other puppies have been taken to another rescue group. We spent over $1,500.00 just on the puppies alone. We owe thousands to the vet. We need all the help we can get with the fundable. Thanks!!"

To help contribute to the expenses of this dog and puppies - please contact FIDO dog rescue. She would like money sent right to her because she has 3 different doctors to pay. The fundable only has like a week to go and if not enough money is raised she gets nothing.
Anything you can do to help us raise money would be great. Their bills so far have actually run about $6000.00.

Information from 2008 about this shelter. I have not heard good things about this shelter recently and cannot find any current website or listing of animals.

A Plea for help!

September 4, 2008 : 2:09 PM
Once again, a plea for help is desperately needed for the Chesterfield, SC shelter that we have been hearing about lately. The tradgedy of this situation is that not enough rescue groups or individuals are stepping up to help. There are literally only 3 - 5 volunteers from the Paws & Claws Rescue group that have been working desperately to save the dogs and some cats from this dilapadated, and what I consider a very poor excuse, for a shelter. These animals are fed but not always on a daily bases as there is so few to do so. There is virtually no shelter from the elements and the so called "drop boxes" are rarely emptied. The horrifying gas chamber which is not only antiquated, but is by no stretch of the imangination humane in the euthanasia of the animals. It is reported that every friday, animals are literally stuffed into this death chamber, as many as they can get in there, and die a horrible death. How any human can do this is beyond me. There is an ongoing battle with the county to 1) take more responsibility for this shelter and provide a cleaner and safer environment 2) Hire a manager to oversee the daily issues, including regulare fee
ding and watering 3) To get rid of the gas chamber altogether and switch to the more humane euthansia by lethal injection, and 4) maintain the facility and give the animals a chance at being adopted. All these are basic but very real concerns and need to be addressed. However, the real need is now! The need is to get those animals there out now. The need is to either take on an animal(s) if you can or if not to please donate to those that are doing so to help with the vet and food costs. TO HELP GET THIS PASSED AROUND TO MAKE MORE AWARE OF THE PLIGHT OF THESE POOR ANIMALS! and of the people who are desperately working to right a terrible wrong. And, most importantly to let the County of Chesterfiled know they need to do something positive about this shelter. The information on who to contact and how to donate is below. Can you help?

If anyone can take animal(s), please contact Dione at: ssacolase@aol.com. or Karen Stangel at: 843-537-7023 or

Holly, a volunteer, has not only seen the shelter first hand, but is taking animals almost on a daily bases. She is doing this on her own and is footing the cost of food, shelter and vet visits. If you can donate to help defray some of her costs you can use her paypal accoiunt: hkicher@sc.rr.com or mail a check to:
