December 14, 2008 I Am Posting These Guys Again. Dogs Get Depressed. It is so Disturbing to See A Dog Give Up Hope. Please Help Them.
Shelters can be depressing places. Often the animals are not fed enough, are exposed to cold floors, lots of barking dogs and crying cats. Can you imagine what it must be like especially for the sensitive ones or the ones that had good homes? In some shelters there is not enough help to adequately take care of the animals so they are not walked and the cages are sprayed down( for cleaning) with them in it. Even in the best of shelters, there are other reasons for dogs to get sad besides poor conditions and inadequate food. Lack of exercise and attention and unfortunately euthanasia. I believe some dogs can sense the seriousness of their situation. Please help your local shelters so animals can be cared for in the best way possible and please look at these scared dogs and help them. Many times all these dogs need to be happy is a loving owner.

Peppy (Woodsfield, OH – pound)
http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=12431782
Awwww, Peppy is sad and over-whelmed at ending up here.....she is kind and gentle but think she is depressed. She's not that old, old, maybe 8 - 10 years. She would be beautiful is she were groomed, so hard to see her eyes, she needs a clip or bow! She will come out of her 3'X4' kennel on her own to investigate the building but at the slightest loud noise or movement she runs back into her "safe" zone. She needs some one on one attention and care to come out of her shell,
please help her.
Sparky (Mount Gilead, OH)

Victim of divorce.
"Sparky is here as a result of a divorce. No one wanted to claim ownership so the police brought him here after he was left unattended at one of the divorcees homes---and they did not want him. This is a sad case where the dog loses not only his home but his family. Because no one has shown ownership we are treating him as a stray and he will be held for 7 days before we can release him--he arrived on 12-11-08."
