PUPPIES!! - We have a litter of sick pups, please help sponsor their treatment!
There are so many requests for aid in all its forms from shelters. Many shelters are dependent on the kindness of strangers so if you can make a donation, it doesn't matter how small of large:), please do. It can mean life or death to an animal.
These puppies are at Mason County Animal Shelter in Pt. Pleasant West Virginia.

Nowhere Man, Special Needs Kitty In Kentucky Needs Home ASAP
Posted: Tue May 27, 2008 8:52 pm Post subject: NoWhere Man -- a very special needs cat. Grayson Humane, KY
***Permission to Crosspost*** Contact dwhite@aggressiveonline.net Donna White Grayson County Humane Society 213 William Thomason Byway Leitchfield, KY 42754 270-230-8839 www.graysoncountyhumanesociety.petfinder.org “He’s a real Nowhere Man ;;” Here's this guy's story. A couple found him living in a feral colony. They noticed how friendly he was and thought he was a spayed, declawed female. They asked us to find him a home and gave us $125 to do so. He was in terrible shape, matted fur, diarrhea, upper respiratory -- so the focus went into getting him back in shape physically. Through all of this he remained a very friendly cat. It was soon discovered that he was not a she and he was not declawed -- something was obviously wrong with his feet. A first trip to the vet explored a possible neurological condition (Lyme test $38, fecal $10, venipuncture $15, office visit $30); a second trip to the vet resulted (finally) in an x-ray ($50 2 views metacam to relieve possible pain $2.50) showing that his 2 front ankles have been broken and healed back improperly, resulting in the way he walks (see his video). He is a very loving cat. We are not sure what needs to be done for him at this point (we have spent the donation and then some and more vetting needs to be done). Finding him a great home would be a great first step. "Nowhere man, please listen, you don't know what you're missing, Nowhere Man, the world is at your command." http://www.youtube.com/v/LUPbpRpGIPs This video will show you how he walks. A woman and her two girls came in or advice on treating a sick kitten. They fell in love with him but could not afford his adoption fee. |

"The Mercer County Humane Society is an organization of individuals who care about the welfare of animals and want to try to help educate individuals of the overpopulation and effects it has caused in these now overcrowded shelters! We do not own nor run the area shelter , which is owned but the Mercer County Commission but we do provide information on the shelters animals and their contact information. The animal shelter can only hold an animal for a certain period of time and due to the overpopulation has to humanely euthenize once it gets crowded. We provide the contact info of who you need to contact for each animal on their info page. Please do not contact the humane society about an animal which is at the shelter, they need to be contacted directly.
We also help in this area by providing this pefinder site to anyone wishing for help in placement of an animal and would like a photo and info added to this site for the animal in need."

Senior Rottie Left at Kentucky Shelter :Owners Said Kill Her She is Too Old!
"Chelsea, a senior Rottie was found with her best friend, a Jack Russell, on the streets of Kentucky and taken to a Kentucky shelter. Chelsea's family went to the shelter, but instead of taking them both home, they took only the Jack Russell and left Chelsea at the shelter with instructions to euthanize her because, they said, "She's old." The shelter director does not want to kill her because she has so much more love to give in this world. So he sent out a plea for someone to take her home and love her for her remaining days. If you have room in your heart and home to foster or adopt her please, call the shelter director, James, at 502.633.0009. Transport can be arranged to almost anywhere."

358 VERY URGENT Dog
- Breed: German Shepherd Dog, Hound[Mix]
- Sex: Male
- Age: Young
- Size: Large
From: Portage County Dog Warden Shelter This great 1 year old dog has been in the pound the longest of any dog there. His problem is that he barks & jumps in his kennel at anyone who comes near him. He absolutely hates being kenneled. Once he's out of the kennel, he calms right down & once outside to play, the first thing he does is pick up a tennis ball. He teases with the ball, running up & will pretend to give it up, then he takes off laughing. This goes on for a few minutes, then he'll drop the ball & tear after it once it's thrown, over & over. He's good with adults & seems to be good with other dogs. He's VERY house trained, another reason he hates being cooped up all day & night. Please give this great dog a home with an active family that he deserves. Shots will be given at adoption & PLEASE purchase a low cost neuter certificate.
KAYLA IS URGENT! FACES DEATH FOR SECOND TIME. Transportation fee will be paid to New England
Posted: Fri May 23, 2008 10:21 pm Post subject: Gorgeous Aussie/Heeler 2nd Time Facing Death URGENT
http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=10759227 Kayla is approximately 4 years old. She has to find a new home because her owner was forced to move into an apartment and could not take her with her. . The owner was able to find someone to foster her for a few weeks and hopefully we can place her by that time or she will be euthanized. Arkansas is over run with Australian Shepherd/Cattle dogs up for adoption so her chances of being adopted are slim. Kayla was rescued by her owner when she was 2 years old from a kill shelter. She was scheduled to be put down. Now she may face the same fate. She is timid at first but once she gets to know you is very sweet. She has not been around children so a home without small kids is recomended. She would make an excellent running or hiking partner. She does well with other big dogs as long as they don't start something with her but she would love to be your one and only. This is a beautiful dog as her picture does not do her justice. She will be a sweet, loving and loyal family member. Shelter pays a Transportation Service from Arkansas to bring the dogs to New England. The adoption fee is $250.00 for altered dogs. $350.for unaltered puppies, with $100 refundable after spay/neuter. All Senior dogs 6 years or older have a reduced adoption fee of $200. This includes vaccinations, spay/neuter and transport from Arkansas to Maine. All dogs will be tested for Heartworm prior to adoption. Almost Home Rescue will process your adoption. Applications can be found at www.almosthomerescue.net and can be e-mailed attention of Christine: Animalhaven_ahr@yahoo.com for this particular dog. |
Nathan J. Winograd's No Kill Shelter Book Tour
Please crosspost.
"After nine months and 26 cities, more than 76 hours of presentations,
thousands of people, and tens of thousands of books sold, the 2007-08
national Building a No Kill Community tour is coming to an end. During
my last appearance, 517 people registered to hear the message of hope
contained in the No Kill philosophy, more people than attend most
national conferences. The tide is turning. And it all comes down
to all of you. Believe in your dreams, hold on to your principles, and
never doubt that through hard work and perseverance, you will succeed.
They'll tell you its impossible, even though it has already been achieved.
And they'll use it as an excuse to continue killing. To whitewash their failures
to hold staff accountable. Or their failures to implement lifesaving programs.
To keep customer service poor and the shelter dirty. To fill body bags
, despite empty cages.
And when you call it into question, they'll label you "divisive."
They'll give you one excuse after another:
- "It's pet overpopulation"
- "It's the public's fault"
- "We need more laws"
- "The animals aren't adoptable"
- "Wait five years"
- "It's impossible"
But if you believe that, the animals haven't got a chance.
It is time for change. Demand No Kill.

A Photographic Tour of U.S. Shelters
During the last several years, I have traveled to cities across the country trying to reform animal shelters, offering alternatives to killing, telling the story of promise embodied in the No Kill philosophy. My travels have taken me throughout Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and elsewhere. Mostly, I found despair. But I also found hope. And it is that hope that will pave the way for a No Kill nation. Take a photographic tour of what I found by clicking here. [But please note: the photographs in the pictorial are very graphic.]
Animal Wise Radio
After several weeks of absence, I return to join Mike Fry and Beth Nelson, hosts of Animal Wise radio, to talk about No Kill this Sunday morning on KDWA AM 1460 in Minneapolis. But you don't have to live in the Twin Cities to listen. Nationally, you can also download the program as a podcast on iTunes or directly from the website at www.animalwiseradio.com.
Yellow Lab passed euth date in NW Forida. Please Help!
Posted: Wed May 21, 2008 8:07 am Post subject: Labs in NW FL kill shelter
"It's a new day. Please help these two darling dogs! There are two labs in a high kill shelter in NW FL. Animals from this shelter are rarely posted on PF so it's really only by word of mouth or pen or keyboard that people know about them. The shelter has fabulous people working there and they try everything they can to help gets the animals adopted. If they say a dog is great, I believe them. I rescued one from there a few weeks ago. The yellow lab has passed his PTS date, but I put a hold on him yesterday so he's safe for a couple of days. They think he's about 2 years old. He's fairly mellow. http://www.co.walton.fl.us/animalcontrol/DetailsViewer.aspx?ID=10144 The choc. hasn't reached his PTS date, but will soon. He's maybe a year and a bundle of energy. He has them playing fetch as long as he can. He LOVES his tennis ball. http://www.co.walton.fl.us/animalcontrol/DetailsViewer.aspx?ID=10155 I am willing to pay to pull them and vet them. I just can't take them right now. I'll even transport them to someone in the Panhandle or S. AL or GA If you need more info, please email me at runnerthirteen@lycos.com or call the shelter directly at 850-638-2082. Posted Tue May 20, 2008 7:00 pm: I'm not giving up on these guys. If there's someone who can help, please contact me or the shelter!" |

May 16, 2008. Let Proctor & Gamble Know How You Feel About Cruel Animal Testing
Pick up the phone on Call-In day to urge P&G to end cruel animal
experiments
Please join IDA and thousands of activists worldwide on May 16 -
Global Boycott Proctor & Gamble Day. We'll unite to expose P&G's
callous abuse and inform people about cruelty-free shopping in
dozens of countries throughout the world. Our efforts on this
day, and throughout the year, can save tens of thousands of
animals from a horrific fate at the hands of P&G's vivisectors.
P&G admits it conducts poisoning tests on animals to assess
chemicals in their brands including Tide, Olay, Cascade, Pantene
and Herbal Essences. Guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, ferrets,
rats and mice are among the thousands of animals poisoned and
killed every year in P&G's "product safety research," and cats
and dogs are used in experiments for their pet foods. P&G are
very secretive about their toxicity tests, where chemicals are
repeatedly force-fed to animals, rubbed into their raw skin, or
dripped into their eyes. Other brutal tests include forcing
animals to inhale chemicals or injecting substances up their
noses.
P&G is known for an abundance of animal testing for such
trivial, everyday products. And they are certainly the world's
largest producer of such products, selling their brands (such as
Fairy, Pantene, Ariel, Head & Shoulders, Olay, Iams/Eukanuba) in
140 countries worldwide. If hundreds of other companies can make
similar cosmetics and household products without animal testing,
so can P&G.
The call-in is part of the 12th annual Global Boycott Procter &
Gamble Day, led by the UK-based international animal protection
group Uncaged (hyperlink to http://www.uncaged.co.uk/) and in
partnership with dozens of animal protection organizations
around the world. Over 140 events will take place across the
world, from Sydney to Stockholm. The campaign is supported by
stars such as Sir Paul McCartney, Pretenders lead-singer
Chrissie Hynde, poet and musician Benjamin Zephaniah, and singer
Morrissey.
What You Can Do:
1) Please call, email, fax or write a letter to P&G on May 16th
to politely urge Proctor & Gamble to stop testing on animals and
instead redirect funds towards alternatives. Be polite but firm!

strongly encouraged. See a sample letter/email (BOOKMARK 2)
For more on what you can do to stop P&G's cruel and unnecessary
tests, visit www.pandgkills.com .
(BOOKMARK1)
Dear Mr. Laffley:
I am horrified to learn that Procter & Gamble continues to test
on and kill animals in the development of cosmetic, household
cleaning, and pet food products and ingredients.
I will no longer buy any P&G products until the company
permanently ceases testing on animals. I will be urging my
friends, family, and colleagues to also boycott P&G products.
Since 1999, several countries around the world, including the
UK, have banned animal testing for cosmetics. The European Union
also voted for the ban, which included the sale of animal-tested
products within its borders.
Polls show that the vast majority of the public is strongly
against animal testing for cosmetic, household products, and pet
foods, and that hundreds of companies do not engage in animal
testing, yet make perfectly good, safe products.
I urge P&G to establish a firm non-animal testing policy for
these products and ingredients. With all the recent advances in
non-animal technology, P&G should be able to eliminate animal
tests. It is high time that P&G fulfill its stated desire to
eliminate animal testing for non-drug products and ingredients.
Until then I will continue to boycott P&G products and encourage
others to do the same.
Sincerely,
(BOOKMARK2)
Dear Editor:
It is appalling that Procter & Gamble, which makes world-famous
brands like Tide, Bounce, Mr. Clean, Olay, Crest, Pantene, Head
& Shoulders, Pringles, and Iams/Eukanuba, among many others,
continues to test products on animals.
These experiments are cruel, unnecessary, and happening right
now in the U.S. But we can all make a difference - and feel
better about ourselves - simply by refusing to buy P&G products
and switching to cruelty-free brands. I urge everyone to make
this decision today - it's not as hard as you might think. The
Web site www.pandgkills.com contains information and product
lists.
Let other people know about P&G.

Kentucky Animal Shelter Struggling. REALLY NEEDS HELP or COULD CLOSE
Post subject: Many with special needs/continuing care. Leitchfield, KY
Grayson County Humane Society cares for and works for the pets that are surrendered to the Leitchfield Animal Shelter in Leitchfield, KY. Working to keep each pet alive and searching for treatment and rescue for them is a full time job. We have had three fundraisers in the last 7 months but still are not able to keep up with the vet costs to care for these pets. JBird still has an outstanding balance at the vets. Bess the Bassett Hound had $260 worth of heartworm treatment before she went to rescue. The rescue did not reimburse for the treatment and Bess' balance carries on. Bentley, Ariel and Beaumont have all been treated for mange and did not have sponsors. Beaumont has moved on to rescue but they reimbursed for basic vetting only. Mr. Majestik, Demi, Jelly, Nimbus, Sugar Ray, Jenny G, America, Montgomery, Howard and many other cats have received additional care for skin, ear, eye, parasite and other issues. Just buying Revolution, wormer and earmite treatment for the cat room is a phenomenal cost each month. Now we are well into tick season and are buying Frontline for all the dogs. Cats always need sponsors to get to rescue. Dog sponsors sometimes help them get to rescue. If anyone has a suggestion for fundraisers with low amt of volunteer involvement we are very desperate at this time. Our bank balance is half of what we owe at the vets. The s/n clinic bill must be paid. The annual insurance bill is now over $1000 with the add ons the city required and is due by the 25th of the month. Our pet food/Science Diet bill is due each week. We have hit a wall on the coin banks locally. No one wants to add any others. We already send in used cell phones and cartridges, sell collected aluminum cans and we are holding a yard sale of donated items next weekend. We usually only get about $700 per yard sale. We have a WalMart day scheduled for June 7th but we usually put our own donations in to get to the $1000 funds for matching. The chili supper/auction is not until October. We are registered for GoodSearch, GoodShop. the reason i say low volunteer involvement is there are only 4 of us there many days a week and two more there 1 day a week each. Two of us have FT jobs M-F. Two have relatives they have to care for when they aren't at the shelter. We have to get some bills paid or we will not keep the shelter open long term. www.graysoncountyhumanesociety.petfinder.org |

Subject: PLZ HELP! Durbin, WV~Many hounds need spoken for or will B PTS this WEEK! , 2 PB norwegians horses and cats and more dogs!
Someone PLEASE help us with some of these hounds! The dogs listed here die this week if no rescue emails to save them. Transport help available to the NE! Please do not let these dogs die! Sam is SUPER sweet and beautiful! Champ has never known what love is and you can tell by looking at him. He has been severely neglected along with several kittens and was abandoned for almost a month! Rebel is still a baby! Don't let him die so young! Please help us!
They have been here a while and are going to be euthanized this week if no one speaks for them. We are getting in a mommy hound and her litter of pups also that are going to be shot if we do not get them! 2 have already supposedly been stomped to death by a horse!
Durbin, WV is beyond full again! We need help getting some of the dogs out and into rescues. If you are a rescue and can help with one or even two that would be great and contact us as soon as you can!
We are striving to become no kill and have finally found someone to do the groundwork and the building is being put up now. We still need donations though and we will get pictures of the progress to post on our petfinder page soon. If you can spare even $5 to help the animals go indoors that would be great! Air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter! WHOO HOO! We have a chip in button on our petfinder page to donate for the shelter and we also have a pay pal button for the animals.
We try every avenue we have before we have to euthanize any animal, but without rescues, most of our animals would have perished by now. We do VERY FEW in county adoptions so without rescues, our efforts to save lives would deem nonexistent. Please help an animal in need here in Pocahontas County. They count on YOU to save them so that they may have a future!
Please email BOTH jaime0801@frontiern et.net frontiernet. net) AND lastchance_rescue@ yahoo.com (yahoo.com)
IT IS IMPERITIVE THAT YOU EMAIL BOTH EMAIL ADDRESSES PROVIDED SO THAT YOU CAN GET ANSWERED MORE QUICKLY. THERE ARE TIMES THAT ONE OF US MAY NOT BE ONLINE FOR DAYS AND IT WILL BE UP TO THE OTHER TO RESPOND. SO PLEASE EMAIL BOTH IF YOU WANT ANSWERED!!! THANK YOU!

1. EUTH ALERT FOR THIS WEEK!!!! HELP HIM! SUPER SWEET BOY! NO INQUIRIES AT ALL FOR SAM! MUST MOVE HIME TO A HOME OR RESCUE ASAP! Such a sweet boy and no one has even inquired about this beautiful boy!
Owner surrender. 3 years old. Sam is a very friendly boy who just needs a place to go! He was surrendered because of a seperation and the woman could no longer care for all of the dogs. Won't you make Sam a part of your family? He is a very beautiful boy!
2. EUTH ALERT!! WILL DIE THIS WEEK IF NO ONE CALLS AND SAVES HIM! SUPER CUTE AND SWEET!
URGENT! Bosley is a friendly little fella that was found as a stray. He is around 2-3 years old and gets along with other dogs but will chase cats. Not sure if he wants to hurt them or just wants to give them a run for their money! Bosley will need a rescue or forever home soon! Very friendly boy who deserves a second chance!
3. EUTH ALERT FOR THIS WEEK! HELP HER!
URGENT! Magic is a 9 year old, purebred Treeing Walker. She is an avid hunter and CAN NOT be placed with ANY animal smaller than her. She will kill anything smaller than her, that means dogs, cats, rabbits, ANYTHING! She actually killed her own puppies. She is fine with people but will not be adopted out to people with small children. Magic deserves to find a good home where she can be loved and able to roam in a fenced in area. Please contact us if you can hlep her!
4. EUTH ALERT FOR THIS WEEK! PLEASE HELP THIS PUP!
URGENT! Rebel is an 8 month old Treeing Walker/Bluetick mix puppy. He is very sweet and loves people but is a little shy at first, then he is all play! Rebel should not be placed with cats. We hope to find him a wonderful forever home or rescue SOON! If you can help Rebel, please contact us immediately! He is a very handsome boy!
5. EUTH ALERT FOR THIS WEEK! PLEASE HELP HIM!
URGENT! Conley is a male Treeing Walker that is around 1 to 2 years old. He is very friendly and would make a lovely addition to your family! If you are interested in this handsome boy, please contact us immediately!
6. DIRE NEED OF LOVE AND ATTENTION! MUST GO ASAP!
URGENT! Champ was abandoned and is in DIRE need of finding a rescue that will take him in. He is a very sweet boy that has probably never known any attention as he is so matted and stinky no one probably would have even wanted to fool with him. We are unsure of his age, but we are hoping to find the right place for him. He is a rather large dog with longer hair that desperately needs shaved off. Champ is very shy of strangers but wants to come to them so badly for attention. Sit down with a little food in your hand and he will wag his tail nonstop and will eventually weasel his way over to you and sniff you and hit you in the head with his wagging tail as he walks around you! He is a very sweet boy that certainly deserves another chance at life. Please help Champ find love once and for all!
Heidi also needs rescue or adopter.
Can You Imagine What It Must Be Like For the People and Animals in Beruit?
In the last seven months BETA struggled hard to become
an organization to be proud of while working under very
difficult circumstances. Thanks to your support, our team
efforts, and our executive director - we made it... However,
as we hope you are all aware of, due to the recent fighting
throughout Lebanon we are stuck again. While barricades
and fighting stopped many people from moving about in
the streets, gun shots and grenades kept others locked
inside their homes. Some of our team members were
victims of this situation, one worker was stuck inside
his apartment and desperately needed our help to get out.
While two essential team members were stranded outside
the country, another cofounder finally had to evacuate
her apartment after gunfire pierced the windows.
The country is in crisis, with flights being cancelled
and borders being closed.
Though we all wish this would end immediately, we have
no idea what the coming days will bring and we have no
option now but to prepare for the worst. We might not be able to
offer our animals 100% safety - as we are in danger ourselves –
but we want to make sure that there are enough supplies
. We need to stockpile food, medicine and basic supplies for
all the animals in our care. Local fundraising has
understandably dried up, but with your help we will get through this.

Can Cocoa Mulch Sold in Garden Supply Stores Kill Dogs?
Verified by Snopes VERIFIED ALSO BY GOOGLE
Yesterday one of our dog agility friends experienced a tragedy and wanted me to pass a special message along to all of my dog loving friends andfamily. Please tell every dog owner you know.
Over the weekend the doting owner of two young lab mixes purchased Cocoa Mulch from Target to use in their garden. They loved the way it smelled and it was advertised to keep cats away from their garden. Their dog Calypso decided that the mulch smelled good enough to eat and devoured a large helping. She vomited a few times which was typical when she eats something new but wasn't acting lethargic in any way. The next day, Mom woke up and took Calypso out for her morning walk. Half way through the walk, she had aseizure and died instantly.Although the mulch had NO warnings printed on the label, upon further investigation on the company's website, this product is HIGHLY toxic to dogs.
Cocoa Mulch is manufactured by Hershey's, and they claim that "It is truethat studies have shown that 50% of the dogs that eat Cocoa Mulch can suffer physical harm to a variety of degrees (depending on each individual dog). However, 98% of all dogs won't eat it."
True information about the mulch can be found here -
http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/cocoa.html
This site gives the following information:
Cocoa Mulch, which is sold by Home Depot, Foreman's Garden Supply and other Garden supply stores, contains a lethal ingredient called "Theobromine".
It is lethal to dogs and cats. It smells like chocolate and it really attracts dogs. They will ingest this stuff and die. Several deaths already occurred in the last 2-3 weeks. Just a word of caution, check what you are using in your gardens and be aware of what your gardeners are using in your
gardens.Theobromine is the ingredient that is used to make all chocolate especially dark or baker's chocolate which is toxic to dogs. Cocoa bean shells contain potentially toxic quantities of theobromine, axanthine compound similar in effects to caffeine and theophylline. A dog that ingested a lethal quantity of garden mulch made from cacao bean shells developed severe convulsions and died 17 hours later. Analysis of the
stomach contents and the ingested cacao bean shells revealed the presence of lethal amounts of theobromine.
Please email the manufacturer at michellemessick@hersheys.com and request that accurate information about this product be posted on the packaging to avoid further tragedy.
PLEASE GIVE THIS THE WIDEST DISTRIBUTION !!!"

"The agent who led the Michael Vick investigation deserves recognition by his agency.
Please write to Secretary of Agriculture Ed Schafer and request that he nominate Special Agent Jim Knorr for this honor.
Below is the email I sent - you need not be long-winded - just a couple of sentences will do.
I would like him to come to work on Monday morning and have 1000 emails waiting for him. Please forward this email widely.
Contact Mr. Schafer at: AgSec@usda.gov
My email to Mr. Schafer:
Mr. Schafer
Please nominate Special Agent Jim Knorr for the IACP Police Officer of the year for his work on the Michael Vick case. Without his determination, drive, and dedication, this case likely would have had a very different outcome. The deadline for submission is June 2, 2008. Thank you.
I would also like to speak with you about how we, as citizens, can help your Department get more funding to combat dog fighting and other animal cruelty. As concerned citizens who work to help animals, we want to help.
If his email box gets full, please call him at (202) 720-3631.

I no longer use language that accepts the current concept of animals as property, commodities and/or things. Rather than refer to myself and others as 'owners' of animals, I now refer to myself and others as 'guardians' of our animal companions and to animals as 'he' or 'she' rather than 'it'. I urge you to do the same."

Eight Belles' Death R.I.P. Beautiful Girl
Pictures from
http://a11news.com/77/eight-belles-kentucky-derby/
I know I am anthropomorphizing when I imagine Eight Belles lying on the Kentucky Derby track in pain. Was she confused, afraid, disoriented? She had just run a great race (came in second). What was her reward? Her life was to be ended as the winner was praised. One life going forward. One life ended and for what? I hope the Horse Racing Commission starts to be made accountable for these deaths.
There is a lot about horse racing that is not ethical and endangers the animal. Eight Belles was young. Her bones were not as strong as an older horse's. Who decided to make her race? I hope their heart is broken as many of the hearts are of people who saw a beautiful young horse with years of life ahead of her put down on the prestigious Kentucky Derby Track.
