Gunner & Bodie Need IMMEDIATE RESCUE!
2 Dogs from Hoarding Situation – OUT OF TIME at Shelter
Hillsboro, OH

Gunner and Bodie are in IMMEDIATE need of rescue. These 2 dogs originally came from the Estill County Animal Shelter in Ravenna, KY in 2012. At that time, TWHRA confirmed rescue for them with Deb Rodgers with Cares About Life Rescue in Ohio. Though her references checked out great, we found out in April 2013 that she was a hoarder and had approximately 120 dogs at her property. The authorities raided her property and seized several of the dogs there, 2 of which were Gunner and Bodie.
TWHRA was shocked, as well as sickened, to find that we had been sending dogs to this so called “rescue.” I personally went to the property after the authorities got involved and was heartbroken at the living conditions I saw for these animals. This is a rescue’s worse nightmare…to find that you have sent dogs to a place that is probably worse than where they came from to begin with, all in an effort to give them a second chance in life.
Gunner and Bodie, 2 of the dogs that were seized because they were living in some of the worst conditions at the property, have been at the Highland County Pound in Ohio since the investigation began and charges were filed against Deb back in April 2013. Gunner and Bodie have been available for adoption or to go to rescue for some time now through the Highland County Pound, and I’ve been trying to help find them placement. I have remained in contact with the Highland County ACO regarding Gunner & Bodie.
Per my most recent communication with the ACO, Gunner and Bodie are now in IMMEDIATE DANGER of being PTS if they don’t get rescue. The Highland County Pound only has 15 kennels, and last week they had to euthanize 4 times due to overcrowding and lack of space. They have been trying to allow more time for Gunner and Bodie simply due to the situation they came out of, but their TIME IS UP. There have been too many dogs coming through this shelter and not enough space.

TWHRA would love nothing more than to just go get these boys ourselves, but we have no where to put them. Currently we have several dogs in boarding due to a lack of foster homes. The boarding kennel is full with no space coming open in the near future due to dogs there waiting to go on out of state transports, dogs that TWHRA is currently having boarded that we are still trying to find rescue for, as well as the regular client dogs at the kennel.

TWHRA is determined to save Gunner and Bodie. We cannot let these boys die after all they have been through. This is tragic and heartbreaking and they never deserved any of it. We are BEGGING for help from our rescue friends for these boys. TIME IS UP for them and we have to find them somewhere to go or they will NOT get out of the pound alive. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help.
TWHRA would be happy to help make arrangements for transport, vetting….anything we can do to save these boys! I am personally willing to make a donation towards their vetting to the rescue that can take one or both of them!
If you can help, PLEASE email Sarah at twhrarescueoffers@gmail.com IMMEDIATELY! Time is of the essence for these boys! Photos and additional information on Gunner and Bodie are below.
Thank you for your time! We hope to hear from you!
Sarah Jones, TWHRA

GUNNER - 2 year old, male, boxer mix. Already neutered. HW tested negative in 2012, but it is unknown if Gunner was on regular preventative when under Deb Rodgers care. Gunner gets along with other dogs, is very friendly, playful and affectionate....super sweet boy and would make a great companion!

BODIE - 2 year old, male, shepherd mix. Already neutered. HW tested negative in 2012, but it is unknown if Bodie was on regular preventative when under Deb Rodgers care. Bodie gets along with other dogs, but seems to prefer the company of female dogs the most. Bodie has a loving and kind personality and a great disposition. He is a gorgeous boy and would make a great family dog!"
