Hello,
February 2009, Liberty Humane Shelter presented a proposed spay/neuter/microchip ordinance to the Liberty County Commissioners. Liberty Humane Shelter has been placed on the February 2, 2010 meeting agenda to again ask OUR Liberty County Commissioners to consider approving some type of spay/neuter/microchip ordinance. I received the call today informing me that we were on the agenda for next week, so we have very little time to get organized...
WE need your help. All of you have heard our pleas, have seen our plight when trying to save the lives of the homeless abandoned animals that have been so carelessly discarded. WE can put a stop to this, slowly but surely.
Please go to our website at www.libertyhumaneshelter.com and read over the proposed ordinance.
What we are proposing is that every animal be spayed or neutered in Liberty County.
We have carefully made exceptions for medical purposes, for licensed breeders, for service and sporting animals, etc.
We also would like to see every animal in Liberty County microchipped. This will allow many of the animals to be safely returned to their rightful owners. The implantation of the microchip will also insure that owners that dump their animals can be held accountable.
Other communities that have approved similar spay/neuter/microchip ordinances have seen results by the decrease of animals that are euthanized at the counties expense. You can not begin to realize how many animals come through animal control and how many must be euthanized because our shelter can not take them or a rescue can not take them.
WHAT DO WE WANT YOU TO DO?
We need support from our commissioners to get the proposal approved. We would like for each of you to send an email or make a phone call to your county commissioner that simply states.
SUBJECT LINE: I SUPPORT THE SPAY/NEUTER/MICROCHIP ORDINANCE
AND LEAVE YOUR NAME
WHAT MORE CAN YOU DO TO HELP?
Come to the February 2, 2010 meeting and show our commissioners that our citizens would like to see a change in the near future of our pet overpopulation.
IS THERE MORE THAT YOU CAN DO?
Yes, spread the word that we need the support from our community. Forward this email, ask your family and friends to make calls and send emails to their commissioners. Please put this posting on Facebook, Twitter, anywhere we can get support. Please do not hesitate, February 2nd is only days away..
LET LIBERTY COUNTY BE THE COUNTY THAT WILL LEAD THE WAY FOR A BETTER TOMORROW FOR OUR ANIMALS!
