Flood updates from the Nashville swamp

The river here crested on Monday evening. It will be later in the week until the river falls below flood stage. Until today, it has largely been a rescue people operation. It is now time for assisting dogs. For people expecting a repeat of Katrina, we are not seeing it. There are many dogs in need, but they are getting help faster and we are not seeing the starved dogs chained to flooded houses. What is happening is that many dogs are being turned in to shelters and we are being asked to help. The rural areas are not yet accounted for and we do not know what to expect there, but we do think we will find a great many dogs in need there. The scope of this disaster is just now unfolding.
