LIBERTY COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL - HINESVILLE, GEORGIA

"If you would like to adopt one of the animals below, please contact
Petra at scanimalrescue@gmail.com

I have personally interacted with each one of these dogs. My descriptions are straight forward! My conscience would not allow me to hold anything back, and I would never give false information to save an animal, because it would only result in it being returned. You will never find vicious/dangerous animals on my listings!

Usually, little or none is known about these dogs' medical history. We do know that a majority of them were abandoned by military, which means they are most likely up-to-date on their shots, heartworm negative, and generally healthy; however, we cannot guarantee that, which is why each dog must receive prompt veterinary care after adoption/rescue takes place.

Spaying or neutering by 6 months of age is a MUST!!! Unless the dogs go to a rescue or out of state adopters must purchase a spay/neuter voucher from us. You can get more detailed information and pricing by visiting SNAC (Spay/Neuter Alliance Clinic) atinfo@snac1.com or by calling 843-645-2500.
Your help with adopting, rescuing, or fostering these dogs is immensely appreciated, as is your help with cross posting to others who may be able to help save a life.
MORE PICS OF ALL DOGS ARE AVAILABLE!

THOR, the Dachshund (Doxie) mix!
Thor´s owner is a soldier who just got divorced and is leaving for Germany in May. He will be living as a single soldier in the barracks and can´t take Thor along. He has no one to give him to. He told us that he saved Thor from a neighbor who used to keep him tied up outside. Thor is a little underweight and is in bad need of a pedicure, as his little toe nails are way overgrown. He was very, very scared in the office at animal control, but we brought out a little Bulldog puppy and Thor and the puppy played. Thor´s owner also told us that he is good with cats and children; though I would suggest that he go to a home with older children - no small kids. He is very sweet, but it is obvious that he has dealt with abuse in the past, which makes him a little skiddish; little children would only add to that. Thor is about 1 ½ years old.

DIXIE, the Rhodesian mix!
Dixie is a dog that any dog lover dreams of. She is wonderful with other dogs, cats, and children of all ages. Her coat is GORGEOUS; deep red with a little white on her chest with red freckles. Her paw reaches out of her cell when she sees you coming. Being loved on is the most important thing to this sweet baby. She is about 2 years old and though she is much smaller than Rhodesian´s are it´s what she seems to resemble most. She feels so soft that I could hug on her all the time. I wished a kind person would take her home, give her a good bath and reserve a little space in bed for her. I believe that she would make a great furry bed companion. She truly deserves to get out of animal control right away. Please, please bring her home and love her for the rest of her life.

MIDNIGHT, the Black Labrador!
This beautiful girl is soothing on the eyes and the heart. Midnight was very quiet in her cell; not a sound nor a move. I could tell that she was scared when I entered her cell; therefore, I was very careful when I approached her. I spoke to her quietly and softly while I lightly stroked her head and cheeks. She literally melted in the palms of my hands, her soft brown eyes looking at me for reassurance. I led her out on the field and the first thing she did is find herself a private place to finally use the bathroom, which she ended up using three times. Seems to me that she must be house broken. Her coat is absolutely gorgeous; luscious and thick. She lives for belly rubs and likes to play a good game of chase. She is good with children and adults but is growly with other dogs. We tried to introduce her to another female and though she made no attempts to attack the other dog, she curled her lips at her and softly growled;
therefore, Midnight should only go to a one-dog home or an adopter who is willing to put a little work into showing her that other dogs are fun to have around. Midnight appears to be around 2 years old.

PATCH, the American Bulldog!
We are wondering what happened to Patch´s poor block head. He has some pretty good scars that many would immediately relate to dog fighting; however, Patch has no fighting bone in his body. He is very good with other dogs and his main interest seems to be playing ball. He loves his ball so much that once he´s got it he´s not about to surrender it easily. But then again, it could be that he enjoys the thrill of being chased by some little boy. JHe is great with kids as you can tell by his pictures. He is a very fun boy all around and seems to love everyone. He appears to only be around 1 ½ years old, is a little on the skinny side and could definitely use a good shampoo to show his bright white color and all those darling little spots that cover his whole body. Yes, Patch will need a little TLC but he will be drop dead handsome in no time at all.

RYDER, Shephard/Hound mix!
Ryder is a German Shephard/Hound mix. He has a dark, Smokey colored muzzle that he loves to rub over your cheeks and softly kiss your lips. He is nothing but a HUGE puppy though, he´s not into cuddling and lying around... He wants to run, and roll, and fetch, and run some more! He is beautiful. Ryder has a sweet, puppy face and he is covered in fuzzy fur. This little dude loves kids, and other dogs. I think he would do best with a little child to grow up with right beside him. Ryder needs to go to a home with lots of love and energy.

PENNY, the pity girl!
Penny is about to P O P! She is a very pregnant pity, who is still just a puppy herself. We think Penny is only about 1 year old. She is very sweet natured and her personality is sure to capture your heart. She loves to run and play ball, even despite the puppies rolling around in her belly. Penny has HUGE ears that stick out sideways and that give her the cutest face. This gorgeous momma is a light cream color, with chocolaty, round eyes. I believe that Penny was dumped, because she came in with a collar, but she looked like she had been roaming for some time. Her frame is very small, and especially now that she is pregnant and her babies are taking what they need of her body you can count every rib. I know what kind of person it will take to save a pregnant pit bull mommy. You know who you are if your heart is aching right now step up, and save this beautifuls mommy-to-be life.

ONYX, the Black Labrador puppy & PAULY, the German Shephard mix!
These two beautiful puppies were found tied to the shelters door the morning of April 5th. They both only appear to be around 5 months old and are the sweetest puppies you can find. Onyx has a breathtakingly beautiful, shiny black coat with not a speck of white. Pauly´s coat is thick and soft like a cotton ball and has all the colors of a German Shephard. They share a dog bed in their cell and one will rest the head on the other. They are just adorable to look at! They are on the quiet side and are very huggable. It would be great to find a home who would like both of them but it is not necessary. Please, please don´t let these two die.

SAVANNAH, the Chow mix - HIT AND RUN! (DONATIONS NEEDED!!!)
A kind woman brought this poor girl to the facility describing what she saw. She said that she couldn´t believe it but a car struck her and sped off just leaving her lying there. There was not even time to write down the license plate number. Unfortunately, the impact broke her right front leg. Savannah has been in pain ever since and we have been able to do nothing for her but give her pain killers. This is the THIRD dog in 2 weeks with a broken leg. We were able to get out the other two. Unfortunately, Savannah is a Chow mix and many people shy away from her breed though she is an absolute darling. Just look at the sweet face... She is huggable even though she´s in pain. She is good around kids and other dogs. We did not interact her fully because we did not want to risk hurting her leg even more but she sniffed other dogs through the fence and there were no signs of aggression. She even appears to be house broken because
when she hobbled out of the cell on three legs she immediately and almost frantically tried to find a private place to take care of her business. She seems to be a little older, around 4-5 years old and though she looks fairly heavy she is easily picked up. Sadly, I admit that I don´t have high hopes for her because I have been rescuing just long enough to know, but I pray that someone out there sees her and just feels compelled to help her, show her what love is and gives her the chance she so desperately needs!"

"Liberty Humane Shelter/ Liberty County Animal Control

Liberty Humane Shelter is NOT the same thing as Liberty County Animal Control.

We share facilities and the common goal of saving animals.>
* Liberty County Animal Control is high-kill and county-run. Their job is a terrible one, and we hate that they must do it. > If there were more responsible animal owners in Liberty County there would be less animals for them to pick up as strays, and less that would be breeding repeatedly time after time. WE as a community need to take control of this out of control animal population and start spaying and neutering our animals. We also need to be responsible for the pets that so depend on us to care for them. When they get lost, please search for them until they are found. Many people do not even know where their animal goes when they are picked up by animal control. Do they not know what could happen after 5 days? Please let your family, friends, and neighbors know if they have lost a pet, to look for them, to come out to the shelter and look for them, to bring a picture of them and to come back every day and look for them. Your pet is depending on you to save them. Please help us, help the animal find its owner!"
