URGENT! - URGENT! - URGENT! - Topeka KS - BARLEY NEEDS RESCUE ASAP! -
Abandoned to Fend for Himself NOW is the Next to be KILLED for Space in
Shelter!!!

PLEASE LOOK at Barley's photos (if you have trouble viewing them let me know
and I will send in a different format).

Barley is a SWEET, SWEET Boy. His owner went to prison and he and four
other dogs were left alone in the house to fend for themselves. A neighbor
who was paying attention went and got all 5 dogs. She found homes for
everyone but Barley. She could not continue to keep Barley, and he went to
a high kill shelter in Topeka this morning. THE SHELTER IS FULL AND BARLEY
IS THE NEXT ON THE LIST TO BE KILLED FOR SPACE!!!!

I am including some comments from the lady who had him for several weeks, so
that you can read about what a great guy he is, and LOOK at him in his box!!

Barley does very good in the house. I am gone 14 hours a day, and he does
not make any mess in the house. He stays in the kitchen just in case he
does have an accident. I can't tell you if he gets along with any other
animals except for the other 4 he lived with because he has not been around
any other animals. He got along good with the other dogs on his property
but likes to hog all of the human attention. He is very hyper and excitable
but he walks fairly well on a leash. He is a very loving dog.

IF you can help Barley PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE contact Jan at:
janprice52@cox.net (at cox.net)

IMMEDIATELY!

Thanks so much,

PLEASE CROSS-POST with Reputable Rescues!!!"

2/27/14 OH Duke the Dog WILL BE KILLED NEXT WEEK IF NO RESCUE, FOSTER or ADOPTER IS FOUND. Duke was on table to be killed once before but "they looked into his beautiful eyes."

This is a crosspost

"I'm in an URGENT place with Duke. He is going to be euthanized next week if I cannot find place.   We are at a place where Greg's rescue just cannot keep Duke as they have strict insurance guidelines. Duke is a wonderful boy and Greg and I both feel is easily recoverable outside a kennel. I think he probably needs a vet eval and medicine even to calm him and he would be phenomenal.  Or even outside a kennel environment, he would be phenomenal.

I asked Greg to give me until the weekend or I'm afraid we will have to make the decision to put him down and I cannot live with that......

Please help me find him a place. I am brokenhearted.
Rachel

Hi all! Duke was rescued from Green River, KY a few months ago by Tracey Freeland (Pawsitive Energy and SNIPS in Marysville) and I. He was actually put on the table to be euth'd and they could not do it because they looked into his beautiful eyes, so we took him with another dog named Finn- black lab pup. We vetted and neutered both Finn and Duke and Finn went to Cleveland APL was adopted to an amazing family. My wonderful friend Greg Willey at Friendship APL took Duke after he was fully vetted. The problem is Friendship APL and Greg and staff ADORE Duke but he is not doing okay in a kennel environment (very kennel stressed) and at Friendship APL, even though he gets to go out alot, walked, and plays, he is still in a kennel environment.

He has been adopted twice and we cannot take the chance leaving him at Friendship APL in the kennel environment. Again, he is very loved there and well cared for but needs to be in a foster home to adjust to home environment. The staff there have been very sad when he has been brought back.

He is very friendly but loves to play hard and was returned the first time due to not getting along with the family's dog. The second time, he nipped at a child but again, we are only hearing a piece of that and he did not hurt the child.

We think he would be better in a home with a more submissive dog (he did fine with Finn and others and loves to play- just plays rough. He is very protective over bones, etc.). He would probably be better with kids 10 and over.

Again, he is amazing and lovable and very playful and Greg and I want to ensure he has a chance at a FUREVER life.

So, I am begging any of my beloved friends in Columbus - can we find a foster and help find him a FUREVER home. We think he will adjust very well once outside the kennel environment for a period.

Much love.

Humane Society of Preble County
Eaton, Ohio Please share him, he may have some physical challenges but his enthusiasm/personality will melt your heart ♥~RS~
“I met Bo about a month ago. He is about 1 year old, and is listed as a boxer mix but I would bet on american bulldog. He is excellent with kids, and is so sweet and playful. Unfortunately he has angular limb deformities. He is bowlegged front and back and has what is essentially scoliosis. He is "ugly" according to the shelter, and so has not had much luck finding a home. There are some interventions that could improve his limbs, but they are pricy and the shelter is not pursuing them. He gets around pretty well as he is anyway.Back legs 4 inches longer than front, skinny, bowlegged front and back, and walking on his heels rather than toes. I am hoping we can find him a family who will love him for who he is.”
From the shelter – “Bo Jangles is a 1 year old male Boxer mix who has a huge desire to play, play play! Though he may not win the prize for the most handsome dog in the kennel, he sure will for being the happiest! Bo will benefit from a fenced yard and an owner who has the time to teach him proper manners.”

"Shelter animals are often traumatized and fearful as a result of their challenging life experiences. Many animals are barking, meowing, whining, pacing, panting, shaking, and hiding in their cages and are too scared to interact with potential adopters. This limits their chances of finding forever homes.

from Dog News Examiner,  a great site

"Our dogs have an uncanny ability to know what is going on...a glance at the keys and they are ready to go for a car ride, walking towards the running shoes and they bound for the door, a mutter of "cookie," and they run for the pantry.
As such it is not a stretch to believe that they know when they are no longer wanted - to know that their life is in jeopardy, to know that they are going to die.
A volunteer who take photos and video of dogs who are at the San Bernardino, Calif. City Animal Control captured Ginger's heartbreaking disposal at the facility on Saturday.
Ginger's owner asked for her to be destroyed - the reason? He could not care for her anymore.
Ginger huddled on the floor, her entire body shaking in fear - her face pressed to the wall and her eyes wide with terror... "

1/28/14 Videos of Well Fed Shelter Dogs and Cats Helped by RESCUE BANK-The National Pet Food Distribution Program for Animal Rescue Groups and Organizations. You CAN BE Part of the Solution to Find Homeless Cats and Dogs Homes.

This week I have decided to post organizations that help shelter animals by donating food to shelters or to rescues so the rescues can  pull more animals from shelters and give them another chance at a  safe, healthy life with owners who  love and value them. Also I want to post some  rescues and shelters.

Here is the link to  Rescue Bank with videos of  some of the animals they've helped. If you are  prone  to tears,  these videos might do it. You see the animals  nurtured and cared for and FED and see how they blossom. Isn't that what rescue and shelters need to be about, giving  the animals a safe place to stay while waiting for adoption, helping the dogs and cats be the best they can be ( health and behaviour wise),  doing all they can to find them homes? This does cost money so organizations like Rescue Bank are important to support. Sometimes  the ability of a rescue or shelter  to  provide food for a dog or cat allows  animals who are sick or old or hard to adopt more time to get to safety instead  of euthanization.

"Nutritious pet food is donated when it is nearing the ‘best buy’ date, has minor packaging defects or is being re-branded. Animal rescue groups use the savings from their food budget for more spay/neuter and vet services – increasing adoptions of healthier pets.
Rescue Bank® operates on the national food bank model, accepting food donations from any manufacturer, distributor or retailer. Suppliers such as Pedigree, Nutro, Royal Canin, Purina, DelMonte, Wellness and PupChips notify us that product is available.
Rescue Bank® schedules and pays for the freight to deliver the donation to a regional distribution center where it is picked up by pre-qualified non-profit groups.
With millions of pets in need throughout the country, Rescue Bank® is a reliable partner for converting excess product into goodwill for the donor.
Rescue Bank® is a valued partner for both suppliers and the animal rescue and foster organizations across America."

1/28/14 Dogs and Cats Needing Homes in Charleston West Virginia- National Humane Ed Society. Please Help These Dogs and Cats Find Their Forever Homes. Videos of Dogs and Cats in Need of Your Love and Care.

The  National Humane Ed Society is a great organization. The more animals adopted from them, the more they can save who are in kill shelters or other life threatening or abandonment  situations.  Please look at the videos of the great animal that need homes. These videos were posted in November, Not sure all the animals in the videos  are still available.  I think they keep adding pictures of new dogs and cats looking for loving homes. Give them a call if you see your new best friend.
Please help  all the wonderful  dogs and cats find their forever homes. They do shelter other animals. Check the birds out!

1/20/14 COWETA GEORGIA..IMO It is not the right thing to kill homeless shelter animals. The "right" thing is for ALL OF US to TREAT ALL Shelter Animals with the Same Respect, Love and Care We Do Our Own Pets. Just Because WE CAN Euthanize them ( Which is Killing them. This is NOT EUTHANIZING- LOOK up that word in the dictionary to see what it really means). It is a Societal Problem WE MUST DEAL WITH DIFFERENTLY. "Another dog, Roscoe, euthanized without notice! He had been someone's pet...even microchipped...and now his young life has been cut short. Every dog here must be considered urgent as we are no longer given notice on them." Is this Coweta's New Policy? Kill Everything.

If you're thinking of re-homing or giving up your animal, please
take intoconsideration the amount of homeless and abandoned
animals there
currently are & seek out ways to get help via an
animaltrainer/behaviorist. Many rescues & shelters are full to
capacity with
companion animals looking for a place to call their own.

1/11/13 Neglected Shepherd Mix Needs Rescue "As a shelter volunteer, one of the saddest aspects of my work is seeing an animal whose spirit has been broken. Irene is such a dog and this is her story"- Williamson County Animal Control 106 Claude Yates Drive, Franklin, TN:

 THIS IS A CROSSPOST

Franklin, TN-Neglected Shepherd Mix Needs Rescue

"As a shelter volunteer, one of the saddest aspects of my work is seeing an animal whose spirit has been broken. Irene is such a dog and this is her story:

Irene is a lovely Shepherd mix who is three years old. She is a shy dog who is learning to respond to attention and affection. Irene is a well-mannered walking companion and is housebroken. She will sit on command, too. Irene loves to play in the shelter yard. We spend time a lot of time simply sitting quietly by her side and petting her beautiful coat. Irene needs a family who will be patient and work to socialize her. She has the potential to be a loving and devoted companion. Irene has made so much progress with the love, care and encouragement of the volunteers who care for her every day. We think Irene may have been neglected or mistreated, and it has been so gratifying to see her learn to trust people and become more confident. All of us have come to love this truly special girl.

Irene is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, wormed and current on all vaccinations.

Irene is such a special dog and we are reaching out to the rescue community to help place her. Please crosspost widely on her behalf and contact me at kmenzyk@yahoo.

1/5/14" Needs Licensed Rescue- Neena facing death at HCACC McDonough GA. Neena is awesome, she is pathetic, skinny sores all over, maybe 5 to 6 months old, 25 pounds at the most. She LOVES everyone and is a perfect little lady. She is so sad, she sits hunched over in her kennel and does not even bother to look up at visitors anymore, she has given up hope. Neena will be euthanized if licensed rescue cannot save her." Is this HOW WE SHOW COMPASSION TO A HELPLESS PUPPY? Just Because this dog is a pit bull puppy we let this loving dog loose hope and be euthanized? Please If You are A Rescue ( I don't know if it is too LATE) Help This Dog. I am not sure if they will adopt to public.

I don't post Pitbulls often anymore because they never get rescued and
everyone harasses me to no end. I post the exceptional dog now and then.
Neena is awesome, she is pathetic, skinny sores all over, maybe 5 to 6
months old, 25 pounds at the most. She LOVES everyone and is a
perfect little lady.

She is so sad, she sits hunched over in her kennel and does not even bother
to look up at visitors anymore, she has given up hope.

Neena will be euthanized if licensed rescue cannot save her.
Time is short. Please contact me ASAP if you can save her life.
