Hello everyone,
I wanted to give you and update on the situation at the Shelby County Animal Shelter in Shelbyville, KY. We are still in DIRE need of your help!! First…we have had a lot of help from many of you…THANK YOU so much if you have stepped up to help in some way! We SO appreciate you!! But, we’re NOT out of danger yet!! This shelter is STILL full after 71 cats and dogs are out on Saturday after a 4th transport of the week!!!!!! YES…FOURTH transport!!! Dogs and cats are passing each other in the hallways….as one goes out…another comes in and fills its spot!! We STILL need to move animals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to the shelter tonight to walk dogs and take some pictures of a few to send to you. If you can help them…GREAT…if you can’t PLEASE share my email with others…maybe someone you know can help!!! OR…GO ON THE WEBSITE AND SEE some of the other animals there - http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/KY139.html Every ONE of these dogs are in danger right now….NOBODY is safe!!!!! This pretty girl is Dixie. Dixie is an American Staffordshire Terrier. She is a beautiful girl inside and out. When we walked, she was very good on the leash. She LOVED being LOVED!! She has some skin issues and may need some help with that. But, other than that….she is PERFECT!! Dixie needs a great home to take care of her. Can you please help her find it??!! SHE DESERVES it!! Just look at that pretty face…how can you resist that??!
This big chocolate lab is Conan. Wow..what a BEAUTIFUL dog!! This boy is young and smart. He sits and shakes on command. He walks GREAT on a leash. He needs someone to take some time with him to teach him not to jump up on the person that is walking him...he’s a big boy! I did give him a correction and he stopped so I think he would learn pretty quick. I’m sure this dog is at the most 2 years old. He’s a leaner…one of my favorite dog traits. J When we stopped to visit at a picnic table at the shelter…he just leaned and let me rub him. You can’t go wrong with this boy…come and check him out!!
This pretty girl is Dena. Dena has been at the shelter for a LONG TIME now. She has been on the URGENT list for quite some time and has been SPARED only because of other dogs getting adopted or rescued. This isn’t a good spot to be in…ESPECIALLY since Dena is a DOLL!! Dena is a LITTLE girl…I would say about 40 pounds soaking wet. She is a good walker and great on her leash!! She gives you those squinty eyes…so..so…sweet!! This girl needs a CHANCE!! She has been looked past so many times that I’m sure she’s stopped counting!! Dena is an American Staffordshire Terrier….and she’s WAITING for SOMEONE to see her for who she is….a sweet, loveable little girl!! PLEASE help her!! It’s HER TURN!!!!!
This cute boy is Creedance. Creedance is a beauty…I couldn’t resist those eyes when he was in the kennel staring at me!! They cut right through you…it’s hard to look away and I am GLAD I didn’t!! He was quite the gentleman when I took him out for his walk. He loved the pets and the walk he got tonight. He’s a shepherd mix, he may have a little chow in him, check out those spots on his tongue. Look at those eyebrows and color in him..he’s so pretty! He’s medium sized and walks GREAT on a leash…very well behaved! Please help him find a home!! This boy deserves a place to curl up!!!
This pretty girl is Miley. Wow…what a gorgeous girl she is!! Miley is a Boxer/Lab mix. She is bouncy and friendly and just so FULL of life!!!! She is also on the URGENT list at the shelter!! Why someone hasn’t snatched her up is amazing to me after meeting her. Talk about FUN…if you want some joy in your life…this little girl is IT!! She is young, probably under a year old. She is medium sized right now but her feet don’t look too big so she probably won’t get much bigger. It looks as though she may have had a litter of pups at her young age. That is it for her though because now she is spayed, she will never have to go through that again!! PLEASE help Miley get out of this shelter!!!! SHE NEEDS YOU NOW!!!

The Shelby County No Kill Mission, through donations, pays for the initial cost of all vet care to help promote our animals to rescues and potential adopters. This group has been instrumental in helping place our animals. The low cost vetting they provide is usually much lower then any rescue/adopter could get on their own.
PLEASE, if you can't adopt these babies, forward this e mail on to your friends to help them out!! One e mail may save their life!!

This shelter is rescue friendly and does not charge reputable rescue organizations a pull fee.
The adoption fee for a dog is $65 and INCLUDES your new pet to be neutered or spayed!!!!!
