Stinky (I did not come up with the name!) is a 2 year old spayed
 female long haired ginger tabby. What a beauty! This girl was kept
 as an inside and outside cat. She is so soft and super friendly!
She is a very huggable cat! Stinky is sure to fit in purrfectly
 with your family :)

Frosty is a beautiful adult male white cat who came in as a stray.
 This lovely guy is a regal boy. He is friendly and very laid back.
 He loves to lounge around and get petted! He is super swee
t and just a a great cat!

Tony is a 1 year male tabby cat. He has the most striking markings!
 He looks a like a wild cat! He is so regal and sweet! He loves
to play and is very sweet. When I say he loves to play I mean
 it! He is a goofball!! He would do good in any home :)

This regal fella is a 2 year old neutered male who is declawed
on the front. This boy is wonderful! He loves to come over and
get lots of attention and just rub against your legs. He is super
 friendly and just an all around great cat! He is the perfect kitty
 for any family who wants a sweet, gentle, calm, loving cat!

This beauty is a 2 year old female grey and white kitty.
 This girl is great! She is super playful and outgoing! She
 loves to get scratched and petted and just purrs and purrs.
She is sure to win over whoever meets her!

This handsome guy is a 1 1/2 year old neutered male
 Russian Blue cat. He was turned in because his former
owner had too many animals. He is a volunteer favorite!
He is just a big cuddle buddy! He is super sweet and just
 an awesome cat! He is very friendly and loves to be held.
 He is gorgeous and can go home today!

There is one female and 3 males. They are all so
cuddly and sweet! They loves to play and are
 really fun! These are funny kittens! :)

. There are 2 males and one female. All three of them are
a blast to play with! They love to run after your feet when
 you walk and just play and play and play! They are really
 outgoing and so funny!

is adorable! She is very playful and adventurous! She
 loves people and is just a goofy kitten! She is
 sure to make you smile :)

This adorable kitten is a 9 week old torti. Not sure
if male or female. This baby is very outgoing and
 playful! He/she just wanted to rub up against me
and purr and purr! Such a sweetie!!

Awwww! This kitten is one of 5. These babies are 7
 week old tabby kittens. There are 2 males and 3 females.
 They are all super friendly and are so sweet! These kitties
 are playful and full of themselves :)

NYC AC&C’s website proclaims that their mission is “to promote and protect the health, safety and welfare of pets and people in New York City.” Well, it looks like we can classify that as an Epic Fail. Or is it an Epic Lie?  It certainly has been an Epic Disaster of late.

For months now, and in ever-increasing numbers, we have seen dogs coming out of NYC AC&C’s shelters with respiratory illnesses which go above and beyond the regular run-of-the-mill kennel cough. Dogs have come out with combinations (co-infections) of adenovirus, mycoplasma cynos, pulmonary e coli infections, various pneumonias, and canine influenza in addition to the standard kennel cough bugs. The presence of each of these illnesses is scary enough on their own, but even more frightening is the fact that some animals are getting so sick they are not making it out alive. Recently, more and more dogs have been dying in their cages… left to suffer alone, and without appropriate medical care, their lungs slowly filling up with fluid until they can no longer provide their bodies with the oxygen/carbon dioxide exchange necessary to maintain life. A few days ago, little Nam was the latest in a too-rapidly growing list of victims.

FULL!!   NO Help for TWO weeks!

Good Morning,

We have had NO rescue help for TWO weeks, and are now FULL!!!  Please, help us this week!!  We are facing euthanasia at any time if we don't get help ASAP. 

We have SO many nice, nice dogs - Huskies, a Chihuahua (Bam Bam), puppies.  A WONDERFUL yellow Lab (Pia), and SO many more. 


The most urgent dogs are Smokey, Smiley, and Ridge.  More info about them is below and pictures of them are attached.  Smokey and Smiley are really shelter favorites - much loved.  Please look to see who you could save.

Please note:  Hank and Lily have confirmed rescue, and are not available.

Smokey - Smokey was surrendered to the shelter the first week in September and has sat quietly in his kennel ever since.  Having the appearance of some neglect Smokey has been found to be a sweetheart of a dog that has the cutest underbite for a smile.  Smokey appears to be a dog that would make a nice companion to an existing dog in the household as he play bows to other dogs and is eager to join in the fun.  He seems to be very teachable and will eagerly sit for treats.  Smokey is thought to be a lab mix that is around 5 years old.

Smiley - Intake date 9/4/12 picked up as a stray - 7yo Australian cattle dog/lab - 40# Smiley is dog that will not jump all over you with excitement, but will instead gaze at you with love when she gets attention.  She was very friendly this morning and even play bowed to Funk and Ridge.  She is very friendly.  She walks nicely on the leash until it's time to go in, she will slow and then actually stop when you get close to the kennel so you have to pull or push her the rest of the way.  It breaks my heart to have to do that to the sweet gal.  A very nice girl!

Ridge - This 2-year-old cutie is all beagle/hound!  He gets along well with other dogs and loves to use his nose!  He would love long walks and a soft bed to call his own.  Please, help him!


Please let me know ASAP if you can help anyone.  We don't have much time this week.  Any help is appreciated!  If you can help someone next week, let us know so that we can find a foster.  Please feel free to share and cross-post for our dogs, too!
