He has unfortunately been overlooked since day one and continues to be passed by time and time again. He REALLY needs you guys to rally behind him and do whatever it takes to get him noticed. Chester is kind of quiet and reserved in his kennel, but when you get him out, he instantly lights up and his true personality shines through! He is a funny, silly guy who loves to play with toys and is very attentive to treats. Sometimes he concentrates so hard on a treat that his forehead gets all wrinkledup and his lip gets stuck. It is hard to describe, but adorable to see! Chester is still quite young at only about two years old, so he can certainly be energetic and playful. Regular exercise and engaging activities would be great for this guy! This handsome boy has gorgeous colored eyes, weighs about 55 pounds, and is already neutered. He can be a little insecure around other dogs, but seems to do better with females than males.

11/23/15 How Tyson Products Treats Pigs and Chickens at its ( processing facilities-nice way to say slaughter houses). Take a Look.

Okay so this is off the topic of this blog but if you are readers you know I often include animals from other areas of the country and posts on animal issues . In this case I think consumers need to know more about factory farming practices, if they don't already. Tyson's abuse of animals is being discussed all over the internet.

Recently, his K-9 partner Chip was taken away from him without explanation. After Nellie made the trip from Georgia, along with her 6 brothers and sisters, Northeast Animal Shelter's vet noticed an unusual sound from her heart — and immediately scheduled an appointment with a cardiac specialist.

​​Tess and Weezie are sisters, but they are   not a bonded pair !  They are very smart and love, love, love attention!  These two have been shut up for eight months, and they need exercise!  Volunteers have been taking them for walks, and they love it and it does them a world of good!  They need this every day, but they don't get it.​ They do not like cats, but they love people.  They respond to attention and want to be lap dogs, even if they are much too big.   They are spayed and now have $300 sponsorship each!  Please help!!!!

Mutt and Jeff must go to rescue because they can't be trusted with livestock (and probably kitties) and we are in a rural setting.  

They like everyone and other dogs and the staff loves them!

Jolly and Panera have raised their babies and the little ones have found places, but these moms still need homes.

Regarding transports:  We have transport coordinator/driver assistance to northeastern states. So if you are north or east of WV, we can transport closer to you. If you are west or south of WV, you will need to make your own transport arrangements

Rescue

 If you would like to rescue from our shelter, please submit our 

​rescue

. Once approved, you can respond to alerts and offer to pull dogs/order vetting. Vetting must be paid for directly to our vet on or before the day of vetting. Spay/neuter is mandatory/health permitting. We provide vet contact info once you confirm a dog/cat. We have a rescue building where we can house dogs for up to 2 weeks (at no charge) after they are vetted while transport is arranged. We are PA licensed to work with PA-based rescues.

Sponsorships are welcome and greatly appreciated but they do not guarantee the safety of an urgent animal if that animal does not have a rescue commitment.  They do tend to increase the likelihood that a dog will be chosen by a rescue though!  Please

Long distance adopters must work with one of our pre-screened rescues local to you in order to adopt.  Most of our rescue contacts are in northeastern states.
