"The reality is that the Nash County Animal Shelter is EXTREMELY small. Only 16 dog kennels and only a few cat cages. Sad to say, they still also use the gas chamber. Currently 39% of the pets are PTS by humane injection, including babies under 4 months and pregnant animals. We wish for it to be 100% but more than that, we don't want any adoptable animal killed by any method."

"Nash County Animal Friends (NCAF) is a networking advocacy group. We try to save the pets from Nash County Animal Control Shelter in Nashville, NC. We are an independent volunteer organization who photograph and promote the pets at the local government Animal Control facility and try to find them adopters or Rescues. We are not Shelter volunteers. We are not at the Shelter, except to photograph. We assist Rescues when possible. We are not a Rescue, nor do we have a Shelter. We do not accept pets from individuals. We do not promote other pets, other than the ones at risk of death at this facility. We do support the movement to ban the gas chamber.
NCAF is a small group and cannot help everyone, but will try, in particular, to help approved Rescue groups within our limited means. Anyone can walk into the Shelter and adopt or rescue. NCAF is a non-profit corporation but not a 501c3 charity."
