Thank you Kelly for the point you made below. I am afraid that I can not give these guys any more time. I have to have a commitment on them soon or they will die.
Please read all the way down. Kelly gives a great description of these babies in need. Yes Squiggy, Carmaine and Danny are all still here waiting to DIE. Why is that fair??
Please contact the shelter ASAP if you can help.

Subject: Shelbyville , KY : These dogs need our help!!!!!

I was able to take pictures of many dogs at the Shelby County Animal Shelter yesterday!!! I am sending them all out on this email. No, I don’t expect you to help every ONE of them…I’m hoping though that you can pick one or two and work on them however you can..forwarding…cross posting…put your energy into these animals to help find them homes! You see, this shelter LOST their NO-KILL status this past week!!!! They were forced to put down SEVEN DOGS!!!!!!!!! This NO-KILL status was received on May 27th and since then, the shelter has NOT seen the light of day!! There have been a MAJOR INFLUX of animals coming in their doors…many owner surrenders thinking that their animals were SAFE!! There is not a guarantee at this shelter as was found out this past week. This is a county run shelter and if OVER FULL as they were this past week…will be forced to euthanize. LUCKILY…TWENTY dogs left the shelter on Saturday!!!!! Twelve of these went on a transport…thank you to EVERYONE involved in making it work!! Others went to RESCUES & HOMES!!!! There was a lot of local news coverage so many people came out to help the shelter get out of the mess they were in. Now…we have to keep working!!! One dog and one cat at a time…we need to keep moving these animals!!! So, PLEASE do what you can to help…every email that you forward and crosspost could help find these babies homes!!!! I know these animals will appreciate all that you do!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!! Kelly Catlett

This nice boy is Squiggy. Squiggy has been to the shelter for about 2 weeks. He is thought to be a Canaan dog mixed with a terrier. I’m not sure what all of that means to you but to me….after meeting this good boy…it means SWEET and LOVING!!!! Just look at that picture of him yawning…like…mmmmm…I’m bored whatcha want to do now??? Squiggly is a medium sized dog. Someone has taught him some manners! He will sit on command and loves treats!! He was a stray that came into this shelter. Someone lost him and didn’t come looking for him. He would make a GREAT pet! He has energy and LOVES to walk! Squiggy has been neutered and is up to date on all of his shots. Please help find Squiggy a nice warm place to rest his head!!!!!

This ole guy is named Carmain. Carmain is a Treeing Walker Coonhound. This guy caught my eye in his kennel. With the excitement that you cause when you walk into the kennel area…most dogs are alert, some barking…but Carmain was the only one laying down and taking a NAP! I couldn’t resist opening the kennel door and rubbing his belly as he napped! But, of course he woke up and wagged his tail and wanted out so I had to take him out for a little walk. Carmain is an older boy. I’m not sure of his age but I would guess at least 8. He has had a skin infection and he is being treated. Once that treatment is done, he will be neutered. Carmain is slow moving and you can tell he has trouble trusting…this probably means mistreatment in his past. It’s very, very sad to see this big boy tip toeing around as if he wonders if it’s safe. I talked to him and gave him pets to reassure him. He warmed up to me pretty quickly and I know he would to a potential adopter!! He just needs a safe place! Lets find it for him!! He shouldn’t be at the shelter…the noise of the other dogs bothers him and he doesn’t deserve that!!!

Meet Danny..a Sharpei mix who came in to the shelter as a stray. This guy is a hoot!! He is a silly boy and he LOVES the outdoors!! He couldn’t get enough of the scent on the grass!! He’s a muscular, strong dog. He is thought to be a Sharpei mix, he has the curly tail and the purple tongue. He’s a nice boy that just needs a home!! Danny is neutered and fully vetted, vaccinations and heartworm negative. Right now, he just needs our help to find him that FUREVER home!!!

Meet my little poser of the day Scooby! Scooby knew his name or just enjoyed having someone talking to him, not sure which! He is a boxer mix, I’m going to guess a little beagle in there too. He is a laid back dog and was SO appreciative of his walk and the love he got while we spent time with him. He is just a sweet boy that would make an AWESOME pet!!!!! Scooby is up to date on all of his shots and has been neutered. This boy deserves a home that would LOVE him and appreciate the love he has to give!!!!!

This older guy is Peanut. Peanut is 7 years old and was surrendered by his owner. He is a English Springer Spaniel mix. Just look at that face!!!!!! How could you drop that off at the shelter?????????? He depended on his owner to take care of him through his senior years…now he is in a kennel!!! I don’t understand it but I DO know this guy is a SWEET older dog! He is the most laid back dog and would make someone a GREAT pet! He gives love easily!! This boy needs someone that can give him the love he needs…he has MANY years left to enjoy life!! Help him out!!!!! He is up to date on all of his shots and will be neutered before adoption.

PLEASE, if you can't adopt these babies, forward this e mail on to your friends to help them out!! One e mail may save their life!!

This shelter is rescue friendly and does not charge reputable rescue organizations a pull fee.

The adoption fee for a dog is $65 and INCLUDES your new pet to be neutered or spayed!!!!!

If you can adopt or rescue these sweet dogs, please contact the shelter ASAP at 502-633-0009 OR e mail at: animal.adopt@shelbycountykentucky.com
