10/4/11 N.C. Animal Shelter Gasses Animals. Also May Be in Violation of Law. Snowflake a Loved Family Pet - Victim. Citizens Want Shelter Reform.Stop the Gas Chamber - Cabarrus County NC

Snowflake snuck outside her home and ended up at the Cabarrus Animal Shelter and was gassed within 72 hours. Shelter said she was an owner surrendered cat. Sadly she wasn't. This incompetence has to be stopped. It has happened before. They are very quick to gas at this shelter as they are at others in N.C. ( I heard that Mecklenburg County Shelter also gasses animals) as if the lives of animals don't matter. If a person does not care about the animals in their care then they have no right to work with animals at shelters. Heartbreaking. Gassing is bad enough for unfortunate animals with no owners and no rescue but gassing a pet who is loved and has a home is insane. Who told these people Snowflake was an owner surrender ( owner surrenders are killed before others at many shelters- very peverse way to make a death list) or did they just say that so they could gas her? I am beginning to believe that people that so quickly find a reason to gas an animal are unhealthy individuals mentally.I wish Snowflake's owner and all the good people in this town great success in holding this shelter's management and staff accountable for how they have run this shelter.

By someone who evaluated him

His coloring is gorgeous, he's dainty featured, extremely focused, confident
without being pushy. When I walked past his pen with one of the b/w dogs,
he perked up, ears up tail up happy. When I came to visit, he ignored his
kennel mate and focused on me completely. He responded to gestures
and followed my hand movements. But he is not cocky - when I gave
him smoochies, his ears went back and he gave me a sweet kiss
. I had no toys but I think he's got potential.
From Murray County:

He will make a nice pet. Since he came in last week,
he is tops on the PTS list.

This sweet pup is set to be PTS THIS
Friday at dawn at the Murray
Shelter in Chatsworth, GA (just north of Atlanta and just
south of Chattanooga , TN ). We MUST know by TONIGHT,
Thurs, 10/28 who has rescue. Please help him live.

NOTE: Free transport to Atlanta provided. Transport to the
northeast and midwest you must pay, available. Please e-mail
or call us ASAP if you will save a dog(s), then Please fax the
rescue or adopt contract from the Petfinder site to officially
put a hold on the dog(s) or cat(s). The shelter will contact

My name is MORRIS. My Animal ID # is A879425.

I am a male orange and white domestic sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 7 years old.

I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 10/15/2010 from NY 10473, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.
MORRIS IS TO BE DESTROYED ( YES YOU HEARD RIGHT DESTROYED. NOT LOVED OR ADORED) 10/25/10 is the day he will be destroyed. DON"T LET THAT HAPPEN! TO DESTROY A LOVING PURR MACHINE IS BEYOND AN ACT OF INSANITY. TO KILL BECAUSE OF LACK OF SPACE IS WRONG. WHERE ARE SOCIETY'S VALUES? LACK OF SPACE IS A REASON TO KILL.HOW ABOUT DEMANDING PEOPLE BE MORE RESPONSIBLE. DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY GOES TO KILLING INNOCENT ANIMALS AND DESPOSING OF THEIR BODIES? WHO IS MAKING MONEY OFF OF KILLING INNOCENTS LIKE MORRIS? SOMEONE MUST. IT IS NOT A PRETTY PICTURE.

10/24/2010 WEB MEMO
A VOLUNTEER WROTE: Morris is a MUST OWN cat. I'm a dog volunteer, who saw Morris purely by accident, and it has been 4 days and I am still thinking about him. That NOSE. Those creamsicle markings. The calm and friendly way he watched me take out dogs all night---if this cat isn't dog friendly, i will be shocked beyond belief. I'll also be shocked if he's not someone's abandoned pet--Morris is a big, healthy boy at 9.8 pounds, and he's clearly used to being pet. He loves head rubs and other admissions of servitude, and the overall impression I got was that he's a calm, chilled out type who will put up with all of your faults and shortcomings. At 7 years old, he's straddling the fence between adult and senior, but he's got plenty more years of awesome to share with you if you'll only give him a shot. Morris was rated "mild" by our behaviorist, and he's currently breaking hearts at our manhattan care center. RUN, don't walk, and snatch him up.

BEHAVIOR EVALUATION -

No Behavior Summary

10/15/2010 INITIAL PHYSICAL EXAM
Medical rating was 2 NC - MINOR CONDITIONS NOT CONTAGIOUS, behavior rating was MILD
SCAN NEGATIVE BRIGHT, ALERT, RESPONSIVE, HYDRATED PHYSICAL EXAM- WAS BLEEDING FROM RT EAR,CLEANED POSSIBLE POLYPS MOD. TARTAR A LITTLE TENSE TENSE FLEA COMB NEGATIVE NOSF

DOG:
Natasha is a very cute small staffy. She shares a bunk with another dog, Emma. They have a lot of fun together! Natasha has a lot of energy and loves to go out and smell the grass! If time is taken to sit with her, Natasha will also sit; she has been taught that command. Natasha is pretty young, probably only about a year old. She needs a home where her energy can be expended on long walks and runs in a fenced in yard. Once she gets some time outside, she settles in and is a very loveable dog. IF YOU CAN HELP, PLEASE CONTACT MEIKE AT mkwilder@yahoo.com

Mom and her pups came in 2 days ago. SEVERELY EMACIATED and scared. This is heartbreaking! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The pups were picked up on the side of the highway with their mom - even though they are already 6 months old, they were still with mommy. Mom is a proud mom and has every reason to be. Somehow she kept them alive and kept her little family together... It's a miracle that they can still walk, as they are skin and bones. Mom is very sweet and will be beautiful and thrive in just the right home.

UPDATE: Mom and the white puppy have a pending application! IF it is approved, the remaining 3 puppies will still need a rescue or forever home. Please do not forget about them needing us...

3/14/13 Manchester terrier dog in Colchester, CT Living in Car

This little guy's family is being evicted from their apartment .... actually they were evicted last night. The dog is now staying in the car. He has nowhere to go.

I was told he is 3 years of age. He is fearful and skittish. He is not neutered or up to date on vaccinations as the family claims they had no money to take him to the vet. He is fearful of men. He has no socialization so they don't think he is good with other dogs. He has never seen a cat.

He is good with the children in the family.

Anyone want to give him a chance ? Contact Delette at Ruff and Scratchy, Inc. and I will give you the number of the owner. 203-464-2457 is Delette's cell number and email is ruffandscratchy@gmail.com.''

12/6/12 Generosity Needed

Shelters, fosters, rescues, transporters deserve our utmost respect and support. They do what former owners could not do or decided not to do for a variety of reasons: give care and love and safety to an animal and the opportunity for a new life. These people are doing a job for all of us. They have to constantly ask for help. The animals depend on them. Without them there would be even more homeless stray animals wandering the streets suffering and dying. Without them there would be no chance for these dogs and cats. Without them where would the dog or cat go when it was no longer wanted or when there was no money to feed the animal or provide medical care? Please be generous this holiday season with a donation or your time and volunteer.

7/27/12 Lucy at Saint Francis Animal Sanctuary . ClicPic.

"When I left Lucy at the vet it was midnight and I just picked her up from an emergency transport out of West Virginia. I got her from my van and as I handed her off to the technician I removed her collar. It was a pink "COACH" collar, real leather. I said to myself .... Lucy you are such a lady.... I will hold this collar .... and when you are better ... you are going to wear it home from here.... with all the dignity and grace you deserve...that's all she has in life is a Coach collar and a hope & prayer to survive."

"Lux a young neutered staffordshire terrier in Newington , CT is living on borrowed time. Supposed to have been euthanized a couple of days ago, he was granted a couple of more days because he such a sweetheart. I know the attached pictures look horrible, I asked for better ones, but was unable to get them. Officer DeSimone said the following of Lux "In speaking with the employees at CT K9, this dog appears to get along well with people and does not appear to be aggressive. They have not tried to put Lux with other dogs". Please call Officer Jamie DeSimone at 860-594-6232 if you can offer Lux a chance to find his forever home. 5/4/12 Bonnie and Clyde EXTREMELY URGENT. NEW HAVEN CT SHELTER. CLIC PIC

"Extremely urgent ! Bonnie & Clyde need a home now ! Bonnie is extremely stressed out living the shelter life. Bonded couple, Bonnie and Clyde are 7+ years old and have found themselves stuck in a shelter. They appear to be brother and sister. Clyde is very dependant on Bonnie and they must be adopted together. Bonnie is deteriorating and is in desperate need of a home. They are hound / cattle dog mixes. Clyde is a funny guy and is somewhat of a clown. Bonnie is the more serious of the two and is motherly to her brother Clyde. They are both friendly and loving dogs. They are good driving in a car. They are spayed and neutered, up to date on vaccinations and house trained. They love people and are wonderful with kids. Please, all they are asking for is some love and a nice cushy couch to lay on. Time is of the essence. Bonnie will not last much longer in a kennel....she needs love , companionship and a warm happy home. Senior dogs are the best and Bonnie and Clyde would be so thankful and give you all their love ! Clyde guarantees he will make you laugh every day (just look at his picture giving the high five). Bonnie is a lovebug and would love to prove it to you. Please contact the Branford Animal Shelter today at 203-315-4125. Please crosspost. Time is of the essence. Thank you, Delette Corwel Independant Rescue Coordinator

Subject: New Greenville SC URGENT Dog List

http://www.greenvillecounty.org/acs/
The following animals are in the Greenville, South Carolina Animal Shelter…Can you help them?
Some things you should know when working with us:
1.) Not all animals listed on this email are available TODAY! Please look at the “available date” under each animal picture to see when they can leave the shelter.
2.) When you reply to confirm dogs or cats, please include in your email what rescue you work with.
3.) Dogs are not heartworm tested until a rescue confirms them (unless otherwise noted). If you CANNOT take a HW+ animal, please mention it when you confirm! Cats are not tested for felv-fiv until confirmed please state if you cannot take an FIV + or FELV+ cat.
4.)We CANNOT guarantee the health of an animal. We focus on preventative health and do not have the resources to have every animal vet checked prior to placement.
5.) Pull fees MUST be paid at the time of confirming the animal, and at the absolute latest, when the animal is picked up from our shelter. We no longer invoice- sorry!
TRANSPORT MAY BE AVAILABLE TO YOUR AREA---JUST ASK US!

Please be patient with us. We intake 20,000 animals/year and have only 2 staff dedicated to the rescue placement process. We sift through 100+ emails/day. We will respond to your inquiry, but it may be a brief exchange and may not be immediate. Thank you for understanding!

If you can help, please emailpetrescue@greenvillecounty.org

In the form of THIS handsome boy? Eight-year-old Snow was left at the shelter by his owner. He was left with a note saying goodbye. His owner moved to a new home that would not accept pets so she left him outside the shelter. He is a quiet old boy that enjoys the company of people. He is strong on a leash, knows some commands and enjoys running and rolling in the grass. Snow also does well with other dogs. 12/29/11 Millie and Tille 2 Sweet Seniors New Haven CT Shelter Need OUT!

We need to get Millie and Tillie out of the shelter now. Here is some information about these two sweet little ladies : from volunteer Jeannie - "These two girls are so adorable! I had them at my house overnight so they could come to an event the next day. They came right in and saw the crate I set up for them and both just walked right in on their own and got in their bed. They are both house trained and though Millie never seems to speak at all. Tillie barks a little when excited but quickly quiets down. They both need to be adopted together because they are very attached and would be lost without each other.Of the two Millie seems to take the lead and Tillie follows. They were both great getting their baths and being blown dry. These little ladies are wonderful companions for anyone looking for 2 little lap dogs with a lot of love to give.A home with an older person or couple would be ideal. They love everyone but are a bit fragile for rambunctious children".

"13-year-old Tillie and her sister Millie were left in front of our door in a miserable broken crate and dirty sheets. Both of these girls have a lot of get up and go and love be held. Tillie was very much underweight and we found that her sister eats her food before she can finish, so they have to be separated during feeding time. Both girls had their blood tests done and no abnormalities were found. They would love to stay together but can be separated if needed. You can also see Tillie's video at www.youtube.com/fotnhas .

Millie and Tillie are at the New Haven Animal Shelter in New Haven, CT. Contact Delette Corwel at 203-464-2457 or poomeister@hotmail.com to help Millie and Tillie. Transportation can be arranged for rescues in Connecticut. Please share and crosspost so that we can get these two girls out of the cold shelter and into a warm loving home or at least foster home. Thank you." from Delette Corwel

More about Vanessa in KY from FB Post See her pic at end of text.

"March 30, 2011

This is Vanessa- Hard Luck Girl! Life is unfair to many dogs but her is a girl that just can't seem to get a break. The early years of her life she has roamed and been neglected. As an unwanted dog she became pregnant and was dumped in McLean County with a...nother pregnant female dog. They both had their pups, alone in a barn,. The other mother dog took her puppies from her and she suffered alone and unable to nurse her pups. Since the other mamma had claimed the pups, Vanessa was taken from them. Her status now is this: black labrador retriever mix, thin, just had pups, unclaimed, unwanted, you know the story. could life have dealt this dog a worse hand. We want to make a difference and turn Vanessa's fate around. she has the personality to meld right into the perfect family. she seems to get along great with other dogs too. Her disposition lends itself to learning everything it takes to be a wonderful companion. It only takes one loving heart to make a difference in her life. Please give Vanessa your consideration. Shelter dogs have a strong bond with their adopters. They know who saved them. The adoption fee covers the spay/neuter surgery & rabies vaccination. NOTICE: When calling the animal shelter, PLEASE leave a message (with call back number) if you wish for us to call you back. 12/01/09 Pets of Soldiers going to Iraq and Afghanistan Being Dumped in Great Numbers.

"You will find some dogs on this listing who have been at AC longer than they were supposed to. It is not a miracle that they are still there... It is due to the fact that the RESCUE has the task of letting Animal Control officers know which ones "can" be euthanized when space runs out. Yes, that decision has to be made by people who want to see everyone of the adoptable dogs and cats leave and who takes this extra hard... Then again, we appreciate that they now allow us to do this because we know best which ones have more chances than some of the others there. This morning was the end for many and so very hard on all of us; therefore, I am praying that this listing will reach the right people so that next week will be easier. Our area has been hit hard with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan and so many military families have abandoned their pets. With less families in the area, that also means hardly any adoptions. DESPERATE:SHORT-TERM Fosters OHIO

Canine Crusaders, Youngstown, OH 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization (All donations are tax-deductible) http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/OH673.html If You Would Like To Open Your Heart & Home And Foster A Dog In Need, Please Contact Shannon at: shannon.sell@yahoo.com "Heaven is where you meet all the dogs you ever loved." The primary goal of Canine Crusaders is rescuing dogs out of the Mahoning County Pound, Ohio. Foster homes can be as much as 180 miles away. They are located directly between Cleveland, OH and Pittsburgh, PA. "We are in DESPERATE need of SHORT-TERM FOSTERS for dogs awaiting transport to rescues. Foster time for dogs going to rescue is generally only 1 to 3 weeks. Foster time for dogs waiting to find their forever home may take a little longer. Foster homes provide temporary shelter, food and love." Canine Crusaders provides necessary vetting. The cost of food and toys is up to the foster. Prerequisites such as fenced yard, experience, etc., may depend on the type of dog to be fostered.

Ohio Appalachian Rescue Needs Food, A Shelter, Volunteers, Sponsors

"Who We Are We also have a virtual group of volunteers, as well as a few locals, who have banned together in attempts of saving the dogs from the local dog shelters and other animals. Due to the economy, and other reasons, we are seeing many owner surrenders which we can keep out of the dog pounds, in general. We only have limited kennel space which was intended as a temporary hold for dogs pulled from the pound being vetted and transported. Now we must use them to house some dogs indefintely, just to save their lives. We need a shelter, we need more kennels, It is our goal to move the animals out of temporary holding to rescues or their "furever" homes as quickly as possible. Rescue

Who to Contact to Help the Animals

If you are interested in an animal, please e-mail the names on the post and or contact the shelter. If the links don't work, sometimes this happens, please google the shelter to get the correct e-mail. If that fails you can send me an e-mail at happinessis79(at)yahoo(dot)com. I check this once a week.

If a Petfinder listing is removed it can mean the animal was rescued or adopted or euthanized. If you are interested in the animal, don't think the worst. You can contact the shelter. If the animal was rescued and you are interested in adoption, you may be able to find out the name of the rescue through the shelter. Ask for the shelter manager or animal control officer if you call.

Owners Moving Can't Take Dog -See Why Often Pet is Euthed.

The invisible dog

The Invisible Dogs

Sam was a friendly 6 month old puppy. Reason for euthanasia: Behavior, not aggressive behavior that you and I might think would make a dog unadoptable, but rather because 6-month-old puppy Sam was getting "depressed" in the shelter environment. Sasha was surrendered to the shelter as a healthy 1.5 year old when her owners moved to an apartment that did not allow dogs. Like many dogs, within days of arriving at the shelter Sasha developed a runny nose and cough, common signs of an upper respiratory infection that makes so many shelter dogs sick. Reason for Sasha's death: Medical.
