9/27/15 Check out Petition to Bring K-9 Dog Back to His Family. Keep sharing! Chip Needs You!

"Officer Gil Fones is a 27-year veteran of the Montgomery County Police Department, having spent the past 20 years as a K-9 handler and trainer. Recently, his K-9 partner Chip was taken away from him without explanation. Initially, Gil was told that Chip was going to be retired and that he would be able to adopt him and keep him as a pet -- a standard practice for retired K‑9's. But then suddenly, Officer Fones was informed that he could not adopt Chip and that the department was either going to euthanize Chip or move him to a location outside the county"

9/11/15 Northeast Animal Shelter Salem MA Takes in Many Dogs From the South and All Across the U.S. Please Help Them With Nellie the Puppy's Medical Needs

Nellie

From E-mail

Dear Pet Lover,

"Nellie is a sweet little puppy, but at just 3 months old she has already had a tough life. After Nellie made the trip from Georgia, along with her 6 brothers and sisters, Northeast Animal Shelter's vet noticed an unusual sound from her heart — and immediately scheduled an appointment with a cardiac specialist.

We hoped for the best, but the specialist confirmed that this little pup has a life-threatening heart defect that is restricting the flow of blood through her heart. If untreated, Nellie could succumb to heart failure in as little as 2 years.

Please donate now to help us give Nellie the surgery and ongoing attention she needs to live a happy life.

"Northeast Animal Shelter, established in 1976, is one of New England’s largest non-profit, no-kill animal shelters.  We have placed over 120,000 cats and dogs since we opened our doors."

Tess and Weezie are still alive, so there is hope.  But they can't have much time left.  Surely someone will give them a chance!!!!

Tess and Weezie are sisters, but they are   not a bonded pair !  They are very smart and love, love, love attention!  These two have been shut up for eight months, and they need exercise!  Volunteers have been taking them for walks, and they love it and it does them a world of good!  They need this every day, but they don't get it. They do not like cats, but they love people.  They respond to attention and want to be lap dogs, even if they are much too big.   They are spayed and now have $300 sponsorship each!  Please help!!!!

Mutt and Jeff must go to rescue because they can't be trusted with livestock (and probably kitties) and we are in a rural setting.

They like everyone and other dogs and the staff loves them!

Jolly and Panera have raised their babies and the little ones have found places, but these moms still need homes.

Regarding transports:  We have transport coordinator/driver assistance to northeastern states. So if you are north or east of WV, we can transport closer to you. If you are west or south of WV, you will need to make your own transport arrangements

 starting from Ripley WV

. For long distance, try PilotsNPaws..  We are in need of additional volunteer transport drivers

.

Please contact us if you can help on Saturday transports

or better yet, submit a driver application and let us know what areas you can drive through

.

Transports are almost always on Saturdays.

Rescue

s:

If you would like to rescue from our shelter, please submit our

rescue

application

. Once approved, you can respond to alerts and offer to pull dogs/order vetting. Vetting must be paid for directly to our vet on or before the day of vetting. Spay/neuter is mandatory/health permitting. We provide vet contact info once you confirm a dog/cat. We have a rescue building where we can house dogs for up to 2 weeks (at no charge) after they are vetted while transport is arranged. We are PA licensed to work with PA-based rescues.

Sponsors:

We love you!

Sponsorships are welcome and greatly appreciated but they do not guarantee the safety of an urgent animal if that animal does not have a rescue commitment.  They do tend to increase the likelihood that a dog will be chosen by a rescue though!  Please

contact us

to inquire if you are interested in sponsoring a dog or cat.

There is a Donate button on our home page at arfwv.petfinder.com and our specific fundraisers will also be listed there.

Adopters:

JCAS Adoption Application

if the animal is at the shelter

 (listed on jcaswv.petfinder.com)

ARF Adoption Application if the animal is in foster with ARF (listed on arfwv.petfinder.com)

If you live near our shelter, please visit in person to adopt.

Long distance adopters must work with one of our pre-screened rescues local to you in order to adopt.  Most of our rescue contacts are in northeastern states.

Contact us to inquire.
