I often wonder if there would be so much killing of dogs and cats at shelters if the animals looked their killers in the eye and said, please don't kill me, I want to live like you. Please don't take my life away from me. Of course it won't happen because animals have no voice and that is why they can be euthed. I know the people at AC are only doing their job and most are not happy about it yet I do believe that we are all a bit psychotic when it comes to thinking this is okay. Ending a life especially that of a healthy friendly animal is not our right. We have become the believers of our own delusion.
Happy for those who were adopted or rescued but will others given a reprieve last week die on Wednesday and if they could talk to the person holding them down to give the lethal dose what would they tell that person who thinks this is their job to take lives because they are considered property by law and property is disposable?
People may say I am too harsh in writing this that no one is to blame for killing these animals and that these people are angels taking care of other people's irresponsible actions. Euthers and the animals are both victims of a society whose values are screwed up. I don't know the truth. I do know that purrs, wagging tails, living in the moment exuberance and dog kisses are greatly needed in this world. Please don't let these cats and dogs loose their lives this Wednesday: Petunia, Maple, Connor, Shakira, Grace, Horton, Penelope, Sarah, Aurora, Dakota, Eden, Arlo, Jayden, White bulldog, Effie, Lancelot and others want to go home with you and have a future.

Update 12/1 from Joanne It looks like Jackpot & Sheba will have a Merry Christmas after all . Through many disappointments we had a wonderful family from MA send an application on Friday for them. So far their references have checked out and an home check has been scheduled for this Thursday. If all goes well with that, April and I will be bringing Jackpot & Sheba to their new family in Massachusettes this Saturday.
We are still in need of some help with paying for their boarding until then.
We owe the vet $523.21 as of last night and have to pay through this Saturday when we pick them up to take them to their new home.
If anyone can help out we would so appreciate it, we are forever grateful to everyone that has loved them, prayed for them, and donated towards them. Words cannot express our gratitude to you all.

Our Dad passed away on October 4th, 2011 and his friends April & Joanne came and got us out of the kill shelter that we were brought to by animal control right after they buried our Dad on 10-14-11. They brought us to Joanne's vet so we would have a place to stay until someone gave us a forever home…we are still here. So many generous people have helped to pay for us to stay there and we ...love them for helping but people are starting to give up on us Santa because we have been in boarding for so long and because we are seniors. Just because we are 11 and 15 doesn't mean we don't have a lot of life and love left in us !! We love people and humans, get along with other cats and dogs and would love to be a part of a family !! Santa, we still believe in Christmas miracles even after all we have been through, please bring us a loving forever home in time for Christmas."

"Maraduke" is the best description for this extra large "goofy ball" who truely thinks he is a chihuhua. He is super friendly, great on leash and good with dogs he met..He knows some obedience and is very affectionate.. He loves to be chased and loves chasing you but forgets how to stop..If you go to his level, he thinks you are his human couch.. If youre looking for a large, bundle of goofiness, this is him!! Meet him and you'll definately walk away smiling or laughing! This dog will be put to sleep on 11-22-11 if no one rescues or adopts it!  #261 Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier Mix - Medium - Young - Male (another victim of a "hit and run") Approx. 7mons..approx. 45lbs..The pictures DO NOT do this sweet pup justice! He is EXTREMELY sweet...LOVES anybody that shows him love and showers him with kisses.. He is very gentle and aliitle shy but warms up. He is good with dogs he met, awsome on leash.. He is not a barker . He has a rear broken leg which the vets say will heal well with the cast on his leg for a month or so. He gets along good but his excerise must be limited right now. He LOVES to be carried if you prefer to hold him.. He is currently staying at the vet so his leg stays dry and he can be spolied with the 24 hr attention.. Marion County is overcrowed and needs to move some dogs. We have dogs kenneled outside in areas so small there is not even enough room for a doghouse. It is starting to get cold in WV and we need the space to bring other dogs indoors.
Meet Scooter he is a great pup! He loves people and is good with cats and other dogs. He is approx 25pds at 5-6 months old and walks great on a leash! He would make a great addition to any family:) Marion County is transporting on 12/3 and would love for Scooter to be home for the Holidays. Meet Scooter, he is a Lab Mix boy and between 1-2 years old. He LOVES his ball..that's all he needs to be happy...besides a family that will take him in and give him another chance.. He knows basic commands, sit..etc.. He will catch the ball in the air and drop it when asked. :-)

This bundle of energy is Satin, 804-4997, a Shar Pei Mix girl and about 7 months old. Very sweet and loving and gets along great with other dogs.
This goofball is Sammy, 802-5200, 7 months old Bull mix boy. Has demodex mange and is covered in fleas. He is such a happy boy and doesn't know a stranger. Demodex is not contagious and easy treatable.
Polly♥ She is a sweet and beautiful brindle Pit girl that came to AC severely emaciated. Her chances of getting out are very slim...she needs your help!!
