A couple found him living in a feral colony. They noticed how friendly he was and thought he was a spayed, declawed female. They asked us to find him a home and gave us $125 to do so. He was in terrible shape, matted fur, diarrhea, upper respiratory -- so the focus went into getting him back in shape physically. Through all of this he remained a very friendly cat. It was soon discovered that he was not a she and he was not declawed -- something was obviously wrong with his feet. A first trip to the vet explored a possible neurological condition (Lyme test $38, fecal $10, venipuncture $15, office visit $30); a second trip to the vet resulted (finally) in an x-ray ($50 2 views metacam to relieve possible pain $2.50) showing that his 2 front ankles have been broken and healed back improperly, resulting in the way he walks (see his video). He is a very loving cat. We are not sure what needs to be done for him at this point (we have spent the donation and then some and more vetting needs to be done). Finding him a great home would be a great first step. "Nowhere man, please listen, you don't know what you're missing, Nowhere Man, the world is at your command." http://www.youtube.com/v/LUPbpRpGIPs This video will show you how he walks. A woman and her two girls came in or advice on treating a sick kitten. They fell in love with him but could not afford his adoption fee. |

Has he found a home yet? If the lady who fell in love with him is serious about adopting him, I will contribute to his adoption fee for her.
ReplyDeleteThat is really thoughtful of you. I don't know if Nowhere Man was adopted. You can call the shelter. I suspect if the people could not afford the adoption fee, they might not be able to provide for Nowhere Man in other ways, especially if he needed vet care.
ReplyDeleteHe has been living with us since October of 2008! He is very loving and thank you for spreading the word about him!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear that kitty has a terrific home. You are a total cat lover. I can see this from your wonderful fun blog.
