Tess and Weezie are still alive, so there is hope.  But they can't have much time left.  Surely someone will give them a chance!!!!

Tess and Weezie are sisters, but they are   not a bonded pair !  They are very smart and love, love, love attention!  These two have been shut up for eight months, and they need exercise!  Volunteers have been taking them for walks, and they love it and it does them a world of good!  They need this every day, but they don't get it. They do not like cats, but they love people.  They respond to attention and want to be lap dogs, even if they are much too big.   They are spayed and now have $300 sponsorship each!  Please help!!!!

Mutt and Jeff must go to rescue because they can't be trusted with livestock (and probably kitties) and we are in a rural setting.
They like everyone and other dogs and the staff loves them!

Jolly and Panera have raised their babies and the little ones have found places, but these moms still need homes.

Regarding transports:  We have transport coordinator/driver assistance to northeastern states. So if you are north or east of WV, we can transport closer to you. If you are west or south of WV, you will need to make your own transport arrangements
 starting from Ripley WV
. For long distance, try PilotsNPaws..  We are in need of additional volunteer transport drivers
.

Please contact us if you can help on Saturday transports
or better yet, submit a driver application and let us know what areas you can drive through
.
Transports are almost always on Saturdays.

Rescue

s:
If you would like to rescue from our shelter, please submit our
rescue
application
. Once approved, you can respond to alerts and offer to pull dogs/order vetting. Vetting must be paid for directly to our vet on or before the day of vetting. Spay/neuter is mandatory/health permitting. We provide vet contact info once you confirm a dog/cat. We have a rescue building where we can house dogs for up to 2 weeks (at no charge) after they are vetted while transport is arranged. We are PA licensed to work with PA-based rescues.

Sponsors:

We love you!
Sponsorships are welcome and greatly appreciated but they do not guarantee the safety of an urgent animal if that animal does not have a rescue commitment.  They do tend to increase the likelihood that a dog will be chosen by a rescue though!  Please
to inquire if you are interested in sponsoring a dog or cat.
There is a Donate button on our home page at arfwv.petfinder.com and our specific fundraisers will also be listed there.

If you live near our shelter, please visit in person to adopt.
Long distance adopters must work with one of our pre-screened rescues local to you in order to adopt.  Most of our rescue contacts are in northeastern states.

8/3/15 In Case You Didn't Know- About Horse Slaughter and the Racing Industry. If You Are A Fan of the Racetrack Perhaps Reconsider Which Tracks You Support

This is a rescue blog for dogs and cats.  I also post info  about horses once in a while.  What is happening to these animals in the name of money is pretty pitiful interms of what it says about human nature. Pure Bred Race Horses are sent to slaughter as well as other horses that have outlived their usefulness or are too costly to keep. I wouldn't advice viewing what happens to these horses at slaughter on a You Tube Video. It is better that you don't hold the image in your mind or is it? As Americans many of us have grown too  complacent about lots of things as long as we have our needs met and a big screen TV. All I can say is every life matters.

Making money for a business person, one day. Next day  chopped meat.

Look at what happened tp Deputy Broad. He looked like a gorgeous horse
So much for caring about your horse. American Horses Must Not Be Sent to Canada or anywhere to be slaughtered.

8/3/15 When is the BLM Going to Re-evaluate and Stop Their Cruelty Toward Wild Mustangs, Stop the Horrific Helicopter Roundups, Show Respect For Wild Horses and Their Family Unit? Grulla Who Was Going To Rescue Died in The Care of BLM. Perhaps this Horse Died of a Broken Heart.

Did the medical procedure done on  this horse cause his death and why was it done at his age?
