******ONLY 22 KENNELS, MAY GET 30 DOGS IN ONE DAY******
The shelter has 22 dog kennels. However, on an average month they take in around 200-300 dogs/puppies. That is why they always have dogs/puppies that are urgent. Also, as a county run facility, they can't turn animals away. The shelter had days when they have taken in 30 dogs/puppies in a single day.

The shelter can only keep dogs as long as they have space available for them, therefore, once they are available, they are automatically urgent. If the shelter should start to get full, the dogs that have been here the longest or are owner surrenders, will be put to sleep first. If you are interested in pulling any of these dogs/puppies, please contact (606)679-6432

*****TRANSPORT TO THE NORTH EAST******

There is a PAID transport that picks up dogs from Pulaski County shelter. They transport to Hagerstown, MD, Mechanicsburg, PA, Hamburg, PA , Phillipsburg, NJ..and now up to Danbury, Ct at least once a month.

Cost goes by size of dog or pup not by crate.
All animals need to be healthy..like no kennel cough or other contagious things.

if they are old enough they need a rabies, started on their dhlpp shots and they need a health Certificate from the vet. Also wormed ahead of time if possible.

Pups...need to not have had a shot 10-14 days before transport. They risk breaking with parvo or other illness if the shot is too soon before the trip
