UPDATE!!! GOOD NEWS March 11, 2009 2 BLACK DOGS. Will Most Likely BE 2 DEAD BLACK DOGS. Georgia

Two Adoptable Dogs will mostly likely die. I feel one of my rants about animal rights, irresponsible owners, inadequate government regulation for shelters and humane euthanasia and our culture's disregard for life coming on.

UPDATE MARCH 13*** INDIGO AND PHOEBE BOTH SAFE.

Post subject: Plea for 2 black, overlooked dogs who are XXX urgent!

" I just had to try for these 2.I am afraid they will be overlooked. They have the curse of being large black dogs in a high kill pound in the South.
Often thats not a place where such dogs have much hope of survival in a pound.
To make his chances even worse, Indigo is mixed with pitbull, but he has a gentle , sweet, obedient nature.
Both of these dogs have so much potential. If only some kind folks out there would be willing to give each of them a chance.
But they have been there several days now, the pound is filling up again and they will be euthed any time.
I ask everyone that sees this to please crosspost ,email rescues for these two and send their info out to your contact lists.
If you or someone you know can help them, please contact the pound asap.
Thank you!

his is a high kill pound. Few animals ever get out and even fewer black dogs ever make out in the South.
Please can anyone help her?

UPDATE MARCH 13-Phoebe - #27791 RESCUED!!!!
(When calling about a dog, refer to the dog by its ledger number, not its name!!)

Age: 1 year
Breed: Labrador mix
Gender: Female
Impound date: 2/27
Ledger number: 27791

Why Choose Me?
Phoebe may appear to be just a Georgia black dog at first glance, but when you look again you see that she has a gorgeous coat with flecks of chocolate and amber mixed into the black. She also has some white freckles on her chest. Phoebe weighs in close to 60 pounds and has the build of a typical lab. Like most labs, she is a happy-go-lucky girl and loves to flash her doggie smile. She really enjoys going on walks and will tug a little, especially if you let her get away with it. After a receiving a few corrections, she was walking along with me like a perfect lady. She also seems to know the command “sit” and may be housetrained since she took care of all of her business as soon as she was out of her kennel. She didn’t seem to have any problems being handled (she allowed me to check her ears, teeth, and nails without a fuss) and was very polite to other dogs, so I would assume that she would be okay with a canine playmate. Like any dog, she would love a nice walk everyday, and playtime in the park, doggie daycare, or backyard would be wonderful as well. Phoebe is a lovely young lady who would love a visit!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Its the same old story. A black lab mix at an almost full high kill shelter in the South.
He has little chance of survival. To lessen his chances even more, he is mixed with pit bull.
But he is very sweet and good natured!!
Please, can anyone help him?

UPDATE MARCH 13-Indigo - #27786 ADOPTED!!!!!!!!
(When calling about a dog, refer to the dog by its ledger number, not its name!!)

Age: 1 year
Breed: Labrador/Pit mix
Gender: Male
Impound date: 2/25
Ledger number: 27786

Why Choose Me?
Indigo is a wonderful, happy, sweet boy. Indigo is a very loving, happy boy with nothing but love to give. He will wiggle himself into a ball, trying to get as much love and attention as possible. He also has the cutest little triangles for ears which just perch on top of his head and add such expression to his already adorable face. Indigo isn’t yet neutered but he didn’t seem territorial and didn’t mark while in the interaction pen. Once he got some sniffing in, he switched gears and was all about affection and attention. Out of excitement he jumped up once but after a slight correction he didn’t try it again, which means that he’s a quick learner and respectful of people. Indigo is ready to leave the pound- all he needs is a home that will love him as much as he loves the world!

It doesn't appear that anybody is going to save them.
I've sent their info out to my contact list, and posted them on 3 boards , but they have had no interest or applications .
I can't raise any interest in them.I don;t think that anyone else is trying to help him.
Their times up.
They will be euthed any time.
It makes me sad.
I'll keep praying for them.

Latest updates on them:
Update: 27786- With zero applications, Indigo is towards the end of his time here. Indigo needs to have a rescue group or adopter come and save him as soon as possible. He's been here a long time without much exercise, so his energy level is higher now than it will be once he's in a home with people to spend time with him. All Indigo needs now is someone to give him that second chance he deserves.

Update: 27791 (Phoebe): It's hard for me to believe that Phoebe is still here. She is such a beautiful and sweet young lady. Even though she is a young labrador mix, she is very quiet and isn't too rambunctious. She would be a perfect fit in most homes. Hurry in to meet her because the pound is filling up very quickly and her allotted time has neared its end!

27791- Phoebe is another sweet, yet overlooked Georgia Black Dog. She has no applications on her, and is running out of time. She is much more than just an ordinary dog. Please come and see her as soon as possible!"
