Man's Inhumanity to Man and Animals Continues. See What Happens in the Chamber- Make Yourself Look. Then Decide If You Want to Help Stop The Horror

Video- Scroll Down Until it says "The Real Story About Gassing - Turn Up Your Volume"

http://www.helpsaveone.org/index.html

I know these people have to make a living but who could do this day in and day out? The laws have to change and any concerned people need to contact government officials about stopping this cruelty and making stricter laws about pet ownership and animal rights. We the people of this country have a right to voice our opinions. We vote our legislators into their positions and if any of us don't like how they vote on issues, we have the power to vote them out of office whether it is on a local, state, or national level.
Did you see how these dogs were killed in full view of other dogs?

Did you see tails wagging?

Did you see puppies put on top of dead dogs?

Did you see the older dogs trying to get out of the gas chamber?

Did you hear the sounds of dying animals?

Did you see the beautiful animals who died?

This video was taken in the 1990s but this type of gas chamber still exists. It is the fault of the legislators in these districts and the attitude of many pet owners who feel animals are nothing but objects that can be disposed of and thrown on garbage heaps.

A person or group that can do this day in and day out has to be effected on an emotional level and not in a good way. Killing the innocent who have done nothing to you has to be a stain on a person's emotional health.

What is needed more than humane ways of euthanasia is a change in consciousness about the right to life for all humans and animals.

UPDATE.People were interested in EDITH but SHE WAS GASSED. Beautiful Edith Ann Boxer Senior Bladen N.C. Kill Shelter.

There were people interested in rescuing Edith. The shelter decided that it was better to gas Edith then give her the opportunity for life. I do not know their reasoning. To me whatever it was it does not feel right. If you have any questions, call the shelter and ask. I hope they had a dam good reason to take her life when there was hope for a rescue.

EDITH RIP

"How can anyone let their pet, their companion, a member of their family be reduced to little more that a pile of bones!!! Edith Ann is a beautiful boxer who has been totally neglected to the point where whe is wasting away. At least she's getting fed at the shelter but how long will that last, more and more dogs come in and there's no more room - someone will have to go. They can be adopted or they can be euthanized. Please let Edith Ann be one of the lucky ones to finally find a family that will care for her the way she has a right to be cared for - a right that should be available to EVERY dog. Speak for those that have no voice - and say, "I want THAT one"!"

Due to some issues at home if you are able to save one of my babies please also copy Delsie @ DelsW7@aol.com. This way your offer is not missed if I can't get back to you. She has been kind enough to offer to help me.

This sweet girl was picked up as a stray along with her 6 puppies. Her puppies were taken away from her because she was extremely red and irritated and them nursing on her just made it worse. The puppies are about 6 weeks old and are in temp foster. They will be needing rescue in the next few weeks. But for now mom is in danger of being killed. She is a very loving dog that is terrified and doesn't understand what is going on. She looks to be very young. She was tested with other dogs but all she wanted to do was snuggle as closely as she could to people. The shelter is completely full but I am trying to hold off euth until the 29th to give rescues time to step up so please if you can pull this girl the best way to reach me will be by email as the shelter is closed this weekend. Please email me @ nancybarnesbc@insightbb.com or you can call the Shelter @ 502-543-8686. Low cost boarding in available only $5.00 a day. I will help cover the boarding on this girl if someone will just give this plain little dog with a BIG heart a chance to shine.

Gwinnett's Animal Shelter Georgia *I LOVE The Upgraded Nutrition Program for All Animals- They Need Support to Make This The Standard

You can see the Senior Animals and other animals in the previous post. I feel so happy that these shelter animals will have better nutrition. What a great idea. The animals will feel better. Kudos to them.

Gwinnett's Animal Shelter
is trying out some new ideas in a 90-day trial
this summer to increase pet adoptions from the facility. The changes include
longer hours, free adoptions for seniors and an upgraded nutrition program
for all shelter animals. *

The Older Residents of Gwinnett County Animal Shelter, GA Need Your Love and Concern& New Nutrition & Senior Adoption Program Started

" I want to make a special plea for those who have no voice, for those who wait quietly, unsure... those who sit in their kennel, waiting... hoping...

Those who's owners have considered them too old to bother with...

Can you imagine if that was you or I... abandoned without our family to love us, left alone in a cell until someone comes to switch our lights out for good.

Well, I am a believer of karma. I believe what we give we receive. I believe those who give life, get life. I believe that the Lord above carries those kind people through...

Please think about this and consider these lovely fellows. Locked in a cell with the only crime being too old, and unfortunately being unlucky enough to have people who didn't care....

Oldies make great pets. I have a 20 year old
Chihuahua I adopted last year and he has given me the most joy I could have ever imagined. His spirit teaches me to be a better person and even if he dies tomorrow I know that he will have spent his last years surrounded by love... and in return I will have known an angel....

So, let's meet...the older residents of Gwinnett County Animal Shelter, GA (adoption information below)

If you'd like to adopt a new family member or if your pet is lost, the Animal Shelter is a great place to begin your search. The Gwinnett Police Department operates the Animal Shelter to enforce animal control laws and to shelter animals that have strayed, gotten lost, or been turned over for adoption. With pet overpopulation on the rise, we're proud to report a decrease in incoming animals and an increase in animals placed to individuals and rescue groups through our shelter."

Alison Brackenbury Poet and Cat Lover

The second jab

Never have I kept such a wild kitten,
One of eight, born in a tiny house
With carpet rolls and sun, she spun, then hissed
As paper bags go down, at slightest touch.
Then she grew milder, clawed along my skirt
Fell spilled across my arm, asleep, like water,
Floated, as we swim, unborn or dead.

I found her in the wake of several deaths
Just as the sunlight sharpened to the cold
Though trees refused to turn. Can kindness kill?
She had injections that her first poor owner
Could not have paid for, drugs to keep her well.
Now when I pick her up she strikes at me,
Fills the warm rooms with one long keen of pain.

I crouch, in soft skirts, dressed for my London trip,
To laugh with friends. Go. I will cope, you say.
Surely she will not die? Will she be whole,
Fly up stairs, a brindled deer, air’s child,
Or calm, doze without heat in rugs’ deep fur?

I do not know. Day drops me through its skin
To the dark place. I climb up coach steps, smile.
How love can tear, and binds us to the wild,
A useless name. Shadow, I say. Oh Shadow.

Alison Brackenbury

P.S. Shadow did recover - very quickly.

Since Saturday night

Lost for four days to the bramble and gun,
The tortoiseshell cat from the muddled farm
Was called for hours, dogs sent to run

Each dripping hedge, down tractor ruts, to find
Nothing. They slept. The summer storm bowed trees.
The cat was thin and wholly blind.

The main road raced. I swung to the steep lane.
Upright on its crest, a shadow hung.
Rough amber fur blazed evening sun.

“Sally!” I called. The farm cats, hunters, lean,
Kept wisps of pretty names. She turned her head.
The blind eyes spilled their bottomless lit green.

She cried her cracked meow. I scooped her up.
She clambered boxes, swaying, in my car,
Drank coffee milk from a cracked cup

On the yard’s stones. Her owner screeched the brakes.
“How did she stand those storms?” Dogs kissed her nose.
Moist food, dry bed. Would she escape

To the warm roads, the blinding lands,
To dark we scent, dodge wheels until
The call, the name, the swoop of hands?

Alison Brackenbury

WV Digger Sunday July 20th post Very Little Local Adoption YOU ARE THIS DOG"S LAST HOPE

"They've held onto him because he is on the smaller side but, he can literally be pts any minute. The shelter is open for adoptions today..let's pray that he gets a miracle. This shelter only does adoptins on the first and third saturday of the month. And, there is very little local interest. Very rural. I know that they don't want to put him down but, the county com. continually checks PF to see that the dogs have not been listed TOO long. This little one needs out!"

Post subject: Begging for life-scruffy and adorable "Digger"-WV

This adorable little dog has run out of time at the pound. There has been no interest and he needs help immediately!! can anyone find room in their heart for Digger. Please give him a chance!

0584-Digger is a very cute medum-sized (around 30-35 lbs.) mostly white/cream colored male Terrier mix whose breed heritage is anyone's guess (he is larger than a Westie and smaller than a Wheaten). He is a new arrival, about 2 years old. As his name suggests, and as Terriers are bred to do, he likes to dig! He has been very friendly and sweet with shelter workers. He would prefer to be the only dog in his home, as he really doesn't care for other dogs in his personal space. He would benefit from obedience training and may need house training. We don't know about cats but can try to find out if needed. Digger has no pedigree but he has oodles of love to give. He deserves a loving, forever home this time.
Please contact us ASAP if interested in her. We are Preston County's only animal control facility, so intake is high and the pets' time here is short. Adoption days are Mondays and Wednesdays 11AM-7PM.

We are out-of-state adopter- and rescue-friendly! For additional information about adopting or rescuing pets from this shelter, please see our web page at

Frankie- Young Male- Wirehaired Terrier, Labrador Retriever Mixed

Date posted: 5/13/2008

Frankie was a former resident during the crisis last year and has been in foster care for almost a year.....this is what her foster mom says.

"Frankie is about 2 years old...neutered. ..current on all shots...loveable, sweet want to be Alpha dog, gets along with all of my dogs but Tripod MY ALPHA dog! So a little worried about other males dogs, Frankie does just fine with Poncho my male bulldog! Frankie used to be food aggressive but I think he is over that! He does fine around my 4 cats, just ignores them and never messed with the bearded dragon that roams freely around the house! Frankie is the sweetest thing, wants to be a lap dog, loves attention, love to play ball! I am a little worried that he was beat by a man, because he has gotten "weird" in the past if Don moved his arms quickly...it is like Frankie is afraid he is going to be hit and gets defensive... just FYI!"

WV law MANDATES that all dogs/cats adopted from a shelter MUST be spayed/neutered! Dogs need DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella vaccinations. After deworming, to keep your dog worm, flea and tick free, discuss using Frontline Plus and Interceptor with your vet. Don't forget to get a Heartworm/Lyme/ Ehrlichia test if you adopt a dog! If left untreated, heartworms WILL kill your dog. Heartworms are transmitted via mosquitoes.

"This sweet hound mix experienced nothing more than pain, betrayal, & misery. " N.C. Project Paws

His name is now Josiah, but even a few weeks ago, he didn't know love, compassion, or even a name. This sweet hound mix experienced nothing more than pain, betrayal, & misery.

He came to the foster home where he is now, through a little luck & some kind hearted people. He wandered up to a man's house, hungry, covered in ticks, confused & wounded.

The next day, Project Paws got a call about him & we had an open foster home for him. Josiah is a mess. He has bite woulds all over his body. Both new & old. His ears have rips in them, his neck is covered in punctures which are infected, his face has several bite scars, and his legs have been bitten too.

We have come to the conclusion that he was used as a "bait" dog for pitbull fighting. He has all the classic signs of it. And yet, he is the sweetest dog ever. He is good with other dogs, and doesn't mind cats.

Josiah was given a bath today, his wounds cleaned, and given an antibiotic shot. But he will need to go to the vet soon this week.

Project Paws needs help! WE are a EXTREMELY NEW rescue, who are taking up for the local shelter not accepting animals. We can't save them all...but we saved this one! We need to find him another rescue ASAP so we can take in more! He needs help NOW. The foster home he is in now, is a great safe place for him, but its an outdoor foster home & is NOT a good long-term situation!

Today i got a hug from a very thankful dog!

Tomorrow i will watch another dog starve if we can't find a place for this one, so we have space for the next.

Even donations to help get him neutered so he can be adoptable would be awesome!!! He needs shots, dewormed & neutered. Total, that will cost around $90. And a possible HW Check which is $30. The sooner we can afford medical treatment, the faster we can get him to a loving, forever home!!!

We got in 40 dogs in the last three days. I know that you know what that means.
1. Right now we have a mother lab mix with 5 black puppies 3 weeks old.
2. 7 pit mix puppies 7 weeks old.
3. 7 mix breed puppies 3 months old.
4. 1 black terrier smooth coat pup 8 weeks old.
5. 1 boxer mix pup 8-10 weeks old.
6. 1 short hair medium black (something or other breed) dog that had 3 pups sometime last night and 3 more this morning so far. Some are white.
Unfortunately we have been experiencing Parvo and have had to put 4 other pups down on Saturday and 2 six month old dogs down today. The pups were only here two days.

We are in a pickle you might say.
What a summer it's been.
Talk to you soon

Explosion N.C.Animal Gas Chamber. 10 dogs inside.

From: Laura Allen

Subject: NC gas chambers - Explosion with 10 dogs inside!

Will North Carolina Ban these cruel, dangerous devices?
Gas Chambers

There was an explosion yesterday inside the animal gas chamber at Iredell County Animal Services shelter.
The fire department was called to contain the resulting fire. 10 dogs were inside the gas chamber at the time. The gas chamber was at the end of its cycle when the explosion occurred.
It was reported by Tracy Jackson, assistant county manager, that no one inside the office even heard the explosion. American Veterinary Medical Association guidelines for use of animal gas chambers in its 2007 Euthanasia Report state gas chambers "must be well lit and have view ports that allow personnel direct observation of animals" that are inside. It is recommended personnel remain in the room when the animals are in the chamber.
The AVMA report also states the gas chamber must not be overloaded and "the CO chamber must be of the highest quality construction and should allow for separation of individual animals".
The AVMA 2007 Euthanasia Report says that carbon monoxide gas used in animal gas chambers is "hazardous to personnel because of the risk of explosions ...or health effects resulting from chronic exposure". The 2007 Report goes on to state, "The equipment used to deliver and maintain this high concentration must be in good working order and in compliance with state and federal regulations. Leaky or faulty equipment may lead to slow, distressful death and be hazardous to other animals and to personnel... .Safeguards must be taken to prevent exposure of personnel. ...Any electrical equipment exposed to CO (eg, lights and fans) must be explosion proof....[I] f the chamber is inside a room, CO monitors must be placed in the room to warn personnel of hazardous concentrations. It is essential that CO use be in compliance with state and federal occupational health and safety regulations"
.
Iredell County's gas chamber was new.
One of the manufacturers of gas chambers in North Carolina is Dr. Ralph Houser, DVM, a North Carolina resident and member of the state's Board of the North Carolina Animal Rabies Control Association. Not surprisingly, Dr. Houser advocates against the use of lethal injection or EBI, the method of euthanasia "preferred" by AVMA. It is believed by many that he is single handledly responsible for the reluctance of the state's Board of Agriculture to ban use of this cruel, medieval device. To read more about what Dr. Houser advocates click on link.
http://www.animallawcoalition.com/gas-chambers/article/62

Officials at Iredell County Animal Services say they will use lethal injection to euthanize animals until the vendor determines the gas chamber is safe.
When a Tennessee shelter worker died as a result of CO poisoning while he was euthanizing an animal, the state moved to make the use of the animal gas chamber illegal. Tenn. Code § 44-17-303 Sadly, more than one person in North Carolina may already have died from CO poisoning from animal gas chambers. North Carolina Coalition for Humane Euthanasia reports that recent inspections show some gas chambers have leaked high levels of carbon monoxide and endangered county employees and three county employees operating gas chambers in North Carolina have died in recent years.
This horrific incident comes at a time when North Carolina officials are revising regulations for euthanasia. In November, 2007 the Board of Agriculture published a draft of proposed rules that contained a sunset provision for use of animal gas chambers. Under that provision all chambers would be banned by January 1, 2012. The Board, however, recently dropped that provision as well as restrictions on the use of the gas chamber for sick, injured and geriatric animals. It also eliminated requirements related to training and certification of euthanasia technicians. Click here for more on this.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Write letters to the Office of Administrative Hearings, Rules Review Commission, 1307 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27605 and urge them to adopt a ban on animal gas chambers.

Call Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler at 919-733-7125, and
Chamber of Commerce Pres Lew Ebert at 919-836-1407 and urge them to end the use of animal gas chambers in North Carolina.

Email North Carolina Governor Mike Easley and urge him to request the introduction of legislation which would override the Commissioner of Agriculture's removal of the board's recommendation to end the killing of pets by carbon monoxide gas. Gov. Easley has refused to request this legislation, claiming "aggressive dogs are safer to kill by gas." But actually, it is safer to sedate the animals first and then use a lethal injection. Most shelters use injection to euthanize even aggressive dogs, including 67 of North Carolina's 100 counties. Send Gov. Easley this link.

You can also call or fax a letter to the Governor: 1-800-662-7952 if you live in North Carolina and (919) 733-4240 or (919) 733-5811 for out of state calls; Fax (919) 733-2120.

Contact Iredell County officials and urge them to use lethal injection and not go back to the animal gas chamber.

Pass this email on to everyone you know!

Say a prayer for those animals in the gas chamber.

Ok, rescuers and adoptees…..the ACO at the Shelby County Animal Shelter has had NO CHOICE but to put a DIE DATE on the following dogs!!! This is IT for these SWEET BABIES….unless someone comes forward. The shelter had a MASS AMOUNT of animals enter its shelter this past weekend. This pushes these dogs to the euthanasia line!!!!!!!! PLEASE HELP them!!!!!!! Alex has a SPONSOR!! The shelter does not charge a pull fee for reputable rescues!!! PLEASE CALL THE SHELTER ASAP to help these dogs…there is NO TIME FOR E MAILS!!!! 502-633-0009.

Poor little Junior. His family brought him to the shelter when he was caught without having rabies vaccination. I guess he was not worth the fee to them. Well he is worth it and deserves better. He is a timid boy that needs a family that will love him and let him know he is worth a million.

Junior is going to be a big guy. He is full of energy and life. Don't let that end. We must have a firm commitment of rescue by a reputable rescue group and promise of transport for Junior by 7/23.

If you can help, call the Shelby County Animal Shelter at 502-633-0009 or e-mail animal.adopt@...

Lenny and Lee were brought in together as strays. They were found at a popular "dumping" spot on a very rural road in our county. The nice family that found them took care of them until Animal Control could arrive. These boys are both very well behaved and need new homes where they will feel that "forever" kind of love.

Lee and Lenny came in together and love each other. Although they are great togther, they do not have to be adopted or rescued together. We must have a firm commitment of rescue by a reputable rescue group and promise of transport no later then 7/23.

If you can help either of these boys, call the Shelby County Animal Shelter at 502-633-0009 or e-mail animal.adopt@...

Sparky and Lucky were surrendered to the shelter by their owner when they had to move and could not bring the boys along. Both of these boys are great dogs with lots of love and energy to share. Please help Sparky and Lucky have his new FOREVER home.

These two typical terriers need out of the shelter ASAP. They are great when they are not kenneled and need to be seen in a more positive light then behind bars. We have to have a firm commitment of rescue by a reputable rescue group and promise of transport by 7/23 for these boys.

If you can help these boys, call the Shelby County Animal Shelter at 502-633-0009 or e-mail animal.adopt@...

Kobe is a young lab that came to our shelter as a stray. Poor guy being a black lab has slimmer chances of finding his forever home. He is a great guy and just needs a chance to prove he will make a wonderful addition to your family. Please consider Kobe when you are looking to add on.

This handsome young dog did not plan to be at the shelter and he sure does not want to make his last days in one. We must have a promise of rescue by a reputable rescue group and promise of transport by 7/23 for Kobe .

If you can help, please call the Shelby County Animal Shelter at 502-633-0009 or e-mail animal.adopt@...

Miss Daisy Mae. She was brought to our shelter as a stray but we have reason to believe she actually belonged to the person surrendering her to us. After she came in we received a call to tell us that Daisy Mae is spayed, 2-3 years old and up to date on her shots....hmmmmm. Daisy is a great girl. She seems to like women better then men but she is O.K. She is a very happy girl right now. I am not sure she even knows she is in the shelter. I hope she can find a family before she realizes her others are not coming back.

Setting dates on hard decisions is not what any shelter wants to do. I have no choice but to only give this sweet girl till 7/23 to have a firm commitment of rescue by a reputable rescue and a promise of transport.

To help Daisy Mae, please call the Shelby County Animal Shelter at 502-633-0009 or e-mail animal.adopt@...

The bio on this dog says Sam but the dog we need help with is Alex.

We also have a wonderful sponcer for Alex. She has offered to pay his $65 adoption fee for adoption or donate $65 to a reputable rescue that can promise Alex a second chance. We must have a promise of transport.

What a face. Who can pass on eyes like that. Sam is a sweet boy that came in as a stray. He was never claimed and now he needs a home of his own. This boy would be great with any family and will make a wonderful addition to your home and life.

We hate to set dates for our dogs. We are so full and more keep coming. We can only give Alex untill Wednesday to have a firm rescue commitment from a reputable rescue group and promise of transport.

Please help but calling The Shelby County Animal Shelter at 502-633-0009 or e-mail animal.adopt@ shelbycountykent ucky.com

Lionel is just your all around good dog. He came to the shelter as a stray and will be ready for adoption or rescue on July 8, 2008. He loves his walks and does great on a lead. He is very laid back and is not a big barker. If you have room in your heart and home, please consider Lionel as the newest member of the family.

This big guy is likely a Lab/Boxer mix. We can only allow until Wednesday 7/23 for a firm commitment of rescue from a reputable rescue and a promise of transport. The intake of animals this weekend was horrible and with no kennels open, dogs must leave.

To help Lionel, call the Shelby County Animal Shelter at 502-633-0009 or e-mail animal.adopt@...
